If we were to be ahead of Marquette on the seed line, we could have our choice of the MW or South, I'm guessing. Maybe you can only have your choice of location and not necessarily which region.
I didn't say it's our choice. I'm saying the committee trys to put the top two teams in a conference in different regions.

What are the main rooting interests for today?

It seems like our game is the only one that really matters at this point. Winner probably gets the last 2 seed with the loser getting one of the top 3 seeds. Marquette losing could open the door to move up in overall seed with a win. Beyond that, it doesn't seem like anyone projected below us can catch us, and we cant really jump anyone ahead of Marquette. Kentucky losing could also be helpful. I don't think they can catch up to us, but if they win the SEC tournament iIm sure the committee would entertain seeding them above us.

For those gnashing their teeth about the Cyclones potentially being the #2 seed in the East, for this to even be an issue, ISU will be in the Elite 8 - which has only been done one time in the Modern Era. So, basically, not a problem. Playing in Omaha is much, much more important, and that is basically locked up. "Let's Go State!".

Yeah I have zero concerns on where we end up in the Elite Right. It's hard enough to get there and if they do get there that is a wildly successful season. Just get good matchups to get to the Sweet 16 and then let it fly from there.

That’s a very good point

I just enjoy doing this every once and a while...

1710514686165.png

Brooklyn = (2) Connecticut; (12) Kentucky
Charlotte = (4) Tennessee; (5) North Carolina
Indianapolis = (1) Purdue; (7) Marquette
Memphis = (3) Houston; (10) Baylor
Omaha = (8) Iowa State; (13) Kansas
Pittsburgh = (9) Creighton; (11) Duke
Salt Lake City = (6) Arizona; (14) Illinois
Spokane = (15) Alabama; (16) Auburn

I think we look pretty safe for Omaha.

Kansas might lose that to Illinois. The competition for Memphis between Baylor, Duke, and Kentucky matters, too -- if Baylor slips, then one of those other two might end up in Memphis. The knock-on effect of that could be dropping Baylor into heading to Omaha instead of heading to Memphis.

I think Duke is pretty locked in for Pittsburgh at this point

I like that if we play UCONN they will have minimal time to game plan against our defense.

There's a few that look like locks to me...

Purdue and Marquette will be in Indianapolis together.

Connecticut will be in Brooklyn.

Houston will be in Memphis.

Tennessee and North Carolina will be in Charlotte together.

Arizona will be in Salt Lake City.

Iowa State will be in Omaha.

After that things become choppier. Depends on the exact rankings and who might sneak in at the bottom of the #4 line as opposed to Alabama and Auburn as Bracket Matrix has things now.

I actually did this wrong. Creighton should go to Memphis...

In addition, there's no guarantee a 1 seed would be in Elite 8 (although any team that advances that far, by that point, seeding doesn't much matter).

I'd be surprised if UConn gets bounced early, but I've been surprised numerous times with such teams.

Yeah, if we get to the Elite Eight, I don't really care if it has to be in Australia

It will be but getting to play where the one seed has a decent shot of getting upset makes the stranglehold on tickets much less. The possible exception being Arizona as a 2 in LA would have a huge advantage ticket wise over UNC or Tennessee.
