My god you guys, can we complain about anything else?!?!?!

I love when the bracket came out, the same old people on X were complaining about Pollard. Sure, he had to leave the room when they were discussing ISU, but I guess that didn't matter. It's his fault.

It was more fun when Hok fans were going after him for “screwing” them after the Oregon and Richmond losses

Thank God we avoided the early tip.
Considering this will be in Omaha with a high ISU turnout I don't feel that it would be a bad thing. Should be plenty of juice in the arena to get the team hyped up even if it was a noon tip on Thursday.

The first couple times Hoiberg got ISU in the tourney, the late Friday games were perfect though. We got to experience 2 full days of tourney before ISU played back then. I don't recall those locations, but ISU fans were ready to travel getting back to the tourney after a long time.

In a roundabout way that could actually hurt us though. It leaves us with no big 12 rep in the room to advocate for ISU.

Maybe it does. But I don't think that these ADs are supposed to be getting on the committee to advocate for anything. It's more like a second job that they take on to benefit college athletics as a whole. At least when you hear Pollard talk about it, he's watching games and doing research and trying to be unbiased.

Probably not a popular opinion here, but I think that ISU deserved what it got. It sucks, but if you reward teams that schedule no one in the noncon, then everyone is going to start scheduling like that. And that hurts the sport as a whole. Might as well not tune in until January if that happens.

Besides, we are a freaking 2 seed! No matter what, you're going to have to beat a good team to get to the final 4. If we make it that far.

I mean, its not their primary job to advocate, but they can provide counterpoints to things being raised in the room.

This just isn't how the NCSOS metric really works though. Its a lot less in a school's control than the talking heads pretend it is.

For example, our net NCSOS is about 200 places different than 2 years ago. The difference? It isn't our Q4 buy games. We scheduled those about the same way with about the same quality. The real difference between now and then is that we were given a historically ****** big east opponent and our neutral site teams as well as Iowa all underperformed.

How does punishing that help the sport? None of that difference was in Iowa State's control?

Sure. But as a 1 seed, or even the top 2 (which i could have lived with), there are generally going to be easier teams, plus more likelihood of upsets ahead of you meeting the other good teams, making the path even easier. Its a pretty large statistical gap, and instead we ended up in an absolutely loaded region with 4 of the top 10 kenpom teams and 4 of the 6 conference tournament champions.

Can this team beat just about anyone? Sure. But going on deep runs in this tournament is often a combination of ability and luck. And the less of one you have, the more of the other you need.

What difference does it make who we played in the non-con? Our team that is playing in the NCAA tournament is the one that played so well in the Big 12 season and tournament.

They can't be serious that we might have been seeded higher if we had played a few better cupcakes in the non-con.

If what we did during the Big 12 season and tournament doesn't stand on its own, then I seriously question the ability of the committee to make reasonable judgments at all. Very lazy to even mention our non-con.

Meh. Turner has shown over and over that their networks are equal the first weekend. I don't think it's anything to get too worked up over.
Unless you have Sling Orange which has TBS and TNT but not TruTV . . . .

I haven't watched anything on trutv since last March and dropped cable for YouTube tv since then. Kind of panicked when I saw the trutv assignment, but I've got it. Sigh of relief.

Tru Tv as well, both sessions in Omaha draws Tru Tv. Iowa State and Illinois both won their respective conference tournaments and get Tru TV. Makes no sense at all.
Michigan State, with their honorary Izzo bid, leads off the tournament, and will get exposed. BS, and fun at the same time.

But I hate to say...don't want to say it...but the same scenario as (gulp)...Hampton.

I'm still traumatized...I'll probably be watching the entire game on Thursday lying in the fetal position.

When I saw Iowa State on the 2 line I had Nam like flashbacks

Wish it would've been the later evening game. My daughter has opening night of her play Thursday at 7 PM EDT. I'm hoping the 3 hour free preview on ncaa.com March Madness TV offers an on-demand replay of the game or I'm skunked.
I don’t have a solution to the MM preview, but your username is awesome. Is that picture in your profile the Traer, IA tornado from 2014?
