Here is my take. I miss when we could see the same players one year to the next and see them develop. My wife has totally stopped watching Iowa State basketball games because she hates having to get to know a totally new group of players every year. And I watched maybe 6 games this year, including 2 tournament games, because I hate watching the games alone, partly because I work nights now including many Saturday nights, and mostly because my wife is absolutely right.
TJ makes his money by getting the transfer portal right and bringing in the right guys every season. If you're so anti-transfer portal then you're anti-TJ. If you love watching squads that "develop" talent for four years then you can cheer for the team two and a half hours east of ISU. Look at how much success they've had doing that...You and your wife sound like entitled brats because you can't handle times changing.

If your attitude towards ISU basketball is the same as it is towards football, no ******* wonder you watch the games alone

I'm sorry that learning the names of 8 young men in a year is such a high bar for you and your wife.

Seriously, is there a more entitled take than this?

"I want to be a fan, but if I have to learn new names, I'm out."

Are you kidding me?
Yes there is. This is the same poster that started the thread begging fellow ISU fans to help him get excited about our “extremely mediocre football team” next year

Weren’t we told all season, when some on here were saying Omaha would be transferring after the year, that that wasn’t the case and everything was going to plan, and Omaha was working hard, and there was nothing to be concerned about with him…. he wasn’t going anywhere?

Interesting.

Yeah, it's the same people that assured us 100% that AJ Green would be a Cyclone.

Yes, there was a lot of this don't panic about Omaha stuff out there. The excuse was that he was behind because he was with the national team and we were letting him get up to speed before throwing him in to game action and we expected him to give some important minutes come conference play. Maybe it was true that his attitude and work ethic remained good the whole time, but it should have been crystal clear that the results just weren't coming.

Hindsight is 20/20 of course but there were also many posters really confident that Omaha was going to win us some Big 12 games back when he was barely playing in the non-con schedule and was ineffective against buy-game teams.

That's not exactly how it went down in here. We were told "he would be a Cyclone".
It was always with the caveat unless the NBA comes calling. That was the only risk. ISU was his collegiate option. This was posted time and again on Chris Williams pay portion of this sight
He had a great "pro" day with the Bucks and they offered him a deal. This was also before NIL really kicked in.

People on here were badmouthing my posts about Omaha's lack of improvement throughout the season, especially 3-4 weeks ago when he still wasn't playing. There were people saying I was dumb for criticizing his lack of development. It's the same people that are so loyal to a fault that they can't handle any critique about ISU. It's good that there are always honest people on these boards but some of the homers on this board can be out of hand.

For all the sky is falling people, and just fans in general, please listen to Blum and CW from Sunday night. There is a plan, this is the world we live in and it’s all going to be ok.

I’m not reading this entire thread but I can’t believe we have people complaining about the way things are when Mayor saved ISU basketball from oblivion with transfers
Everyone gives The Mayor credit for this but Floyd is the one that showed him the route.

Nah, I'm going to keep blaming random people on a message board with no connections that had wrong predictions.

Same here. How can a McDonald's HS All-American be this much of a rumblin'-bumblin' player? I mean, each time he took the court he looked genuinely awkward without any kind of game whatsoever. Yes, he's young, but to not show ANYTHING, with the resume he came in with? I still don't get it, to be honest. Still, I'll wish him well at his next stop, obviously...so long as it's not EIU (which seems unlikely).

It's crazy how so many people still can't figure out how raw Omaha was. He was recruited based purely on his athleticism. He's the type of Baylor Scott Drew would recruit but knowing it may tale a couple years before they are even serviceable.

They invited these guys into their program and within 12 months have asked them to leave. By definition you have either an evaluation or development problem.

Players can't have it both ways. If they want "pay for play" then they are gonna have to earn their spot every year.

Also, I don't think that's what happened here either. These guys just all want to play.
