Coaches recruited and developed frost twins, Swiderski, and Paniro. Chit and AE were weird transfers but mostly being developed here. I like the idea of getting talent and spending the time and effort on making them into national champs rather than always looking into the wishing well. Plenty of talent here and in high school to keep building roster
He would be a RS Freshman, same as Chit. He was a top 5 pfp recruit coming out of hs. AE transferred in to a crowded group.

he was upset his coach he committed to didnt get the job and looking for somewhere else. We have talent but definitely not enough talent to turn away a kid like this.

regardless, we are arguing about someone who we have zero evidence is interested in coming to ames.

He didn’t commit to Coleman. Carroll committed months before Scott made the change. He also went to 3 high schools, he’s used to being on the move. I’m not getting too excited but I’m not everyone

Even if we only get him for 1 year, it’s an upgrade.

That’s true, but a couple weeks ago no one on here thought he could make 197. I personally think he’s running from Merrill. Why else leave? He also just lost to Voelker this weekend so he’s maybe not going to be all world at 197

Your opinion, he’s been committed to UPenn, maybe somewhere else, at Ok St, and the absolute best workout partner (and mentor) he could ever ask for becomes the head coach and he wants out? Right… makes total sense.
I might be wrong but for some reason Illinois is sticking out as a school he was committed to for a short time.

Could be wrong, but could the reason he's transferring be that he can't he make 97 next year and doesn't want to sit behind Hendrickson next year

He just made 202 this past weekend. I’m guessing he’ll be fine going 197 although tough I’m sure

Losing a match you shouldn’t the first time you get down to weight is nothing new.

I personally don’t know if 97 is a great fit for him, and it seems unlikely to me that he’s going to be able to do that for 4 years. But regardless this is a top 5 P4P recruit, U20 world team member, who just beat Cassioppi a month ago, and has not even used a year of eligibility. Absolute no brainer.

I don’t understand. It’s pretty simple: If you can get a kid like this, you get a kid like this. Period.
At what expense? I’m all for it unless it costs collective money to get him then it’s too expensive for the studs we already have around 184-Hwt. Just develop those guys instead of spending money on this kid

Losing a match first time down to weight is nothing new.. then brings up beating cassioppi hah. Wasn’t that his first time down to 97? Regardless it is a good win but the kid is a true 97kg guy and a tweener 197/hwt who might underperform at both, yet to be seen. Not saying he can’t do well but he’s not beating up on high school kids anymore

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that we don't take him if he wants to come here. I am questioning the fit from his point of view because we already have Yonger, Bartlett, Herrera, Hagarty, Nando, Schon, etc. That said it appears the culture KD and crew has built in this team is amazing. I won't be surprised if he goes elsewhere or stays at OSU but also wouldn't be shocked if he wants to jump on board the Cyclone bus.

Other than Yonger, not a single guy on that list is near as talented as Carroll. Even mentioning Hagarty, Nando, and Schon is laughable. Solid guys to have in the program, but Carroll is a potential national champion.

The question is more, how do Bartelt and Herrera fit with Carroll, not the other way around.

Which college result of Carrolls are you basing this on? Don’t bring up his p4p high school, he’s a college kid now

I have a good Wartburg source. We got the best possible outcome with Bockman.
100% disagree... I've watched him wrestle for the last 2 years and have been around him personally. Great kid, huge upside- so explosive and talented. Any D1 room will get him in shape to wrestle hard. He never got challenged in 2 years.
