in fact, alcohol related incidents were down 35% over the first two years of sales.
This part doesn't surprise me.

Many of the types of people who would be problematic are going to load up before they enter the stadium, whereas if beer is sold they may tell themselves that they can buy it inside. But once they get in, lines, pricing, and being distracted by the game will pace their consumption.

Again, the AD thinks we will lose money on it. It’s been discussed a million times. Whether you believe it or not is up to you.

I don't believe it, with the evidence being almost every other stadium in existence not losing money on it.

Yeah there is definitely enough research and evidence done to show it will actually decrease alcohol offenses. Totally agree on that.

They figure out what they would lose out on Sukup in terms of donations and the cost of those seats and calculate how much they would have to sell to offset that. People think selling alcohol is some huge money maker but look at what schools profit off of it. It’s not as much as you’d think. Iowa made like one mill off of it for an entire year on all sports? If that’s the case it’s very believable Johnny’s and Sukup greatly outweighs that.
Right now I think the required Cyclone Club donation level is $750.

Yep and then $999 a seat.
Plus, there’s an indoor area. EDIT: also large tvs showing several different games, phone chargers and two levels with different food choices on each. I don’t understand why loads of people would stop buying Sukup EZ seats if beer sales are allowed in the rest of the stadium.

I'd like to see a study on BAC levels starting at halftime and after at places that allow the halftime tailgate.

Under the right circumstances, 6 beers at the half wouldn't be that difficult to throw down.

You make a good point for sure. Hard to know without trying it but I do know they’ve researched it pretty extensively.

My wife and daughter sit in Sukup because of the individual seats … they hate the bleachers.

People seriously complained about no beer sales for years, and are now complaining about the price point of said beers. Cant wait until they announce you’re no longer allowed to leave and re-enter at half time. Surely people won’t complain about that!

I would complain about that regardless of beer sales.

Letting people out takes load off of our inadequate concessions and restrooms (the actual reason most aren't back from halftime)

UNI nets right about 70% of gross on beer sales. The university already has liquor liability and there was no increase in security needs, in fact, alcohol related incidents were down 35% over the first two years of sales.

Jamie is choosing to leave money on the table. He would see zero impact on premium seating sales.

Yeah, I’m just not buying that selling beer would hurt Sukup sales. I’m sorry, but alcohol is far down the list of reasons why people buy those seats.

1. Climate control, getting out of the heat/cold.
2. Status symbol.
3. Alcohol.
4. Dedicated restrooms/concessions.

People sure the hell don’t sit there for the football because those seats are horrible for watching a game. I just don’t think that people would give up their Sukup seats if the general public had access to beer sales. I honestly don’t think they’d lose a single person because of that.

I don’t understand why people pay that much for a beer. Just get drunk in the parking lot and sneak a couple airplane bottles of booze in with ya.
