If they grossed $3.2 million I’m guessing they probably only made $1 million or so.
That would be a million more than what they could make without beer sells. Is getting to purchase alcohol the only reason that people purchase seats in the Sukup area? I really doubt it, its a perk, but I am one that believes that if beer sells were opened up to the rest of the stadium, those with Sukup seating would still purchase their tickets in that section. Fewer lines at the RR, better food options, can sit inside when its cold or raining all come into play for those people, not just the option to purchase alcohol.

You would lose some in the Sukup. How much is the question. The AD thinks it wouldn’t be worth it financially, right or wrong.

I always assumed people did sukup for the climate control and not having to share the bench seating with 3 400 pounders who take up 6 seats.

Yep. You hear a lot of people talk about how it's an easier sell for families, the wife and kids being more likely to want to go to the game if they don't have to freeze outside

The section is sold out every year or close too it, people making that type of commitment are not now going to start sitting in the regular seats just because they can run up and get a beer, and give up the rest of the perks that come with sitting there.
I have only sat in the Sukup area one time, but I was impressed with how much nicer it was than my seats in section 19 right beside it. Now is it worth $3000 more, not for me, but for many, it is.

Sorry I just do not think that we are asking that much to be able to walk up and grab an overpriced beer throughout the game.

I don’t know that it’s a coincidence the one event that Sukup wasn’t considered premium seating they sold alcohol to the whole stadium.

I do know quite a few people that donate enough so they can get drinks at Johnnys that wouldn’t give to that level if it wasn’t for that perk.

No matter what you think, it would be no increase or a very small increase in revenue if they sold it. I think the fan experience angle is much more convincing than the financial one.

The concessions at JTS are horrible. I’ve gone to many other Big 12 stadiums and ours are a joke compared to theirs.

I was really impressed with the concessions at Texas's new basketball facility. It actually wasn't any more expensive than the beer garden we pregamed at and had a large selection of food and drink.

They started doing that at Hilton, too, and I think it’s stupid. People won’t choose to buy a taco for $11.99 if they wouldn’t buy one for $12.00.
To be fair walking tacos at $12 is kind of a crime, there's a reason I usually eat before games. Sometimes kind friends take pity on me and take me Johnny's with them which is much appreciated.

So you are saying these people are doing it only so they can go into the private bar to drink, and has nothing to do with being able to get better seats for BB because they donate more? I find that hard to believe.

Most college stadiums allow the common folks to purchase a beer at the game, it is silly that ISU does not for whatever reason that Jami wants to come up. We could use the extra money, and it might be a reason people renew their tickets instead of giving them up.

The crime part is what I was alluding to. Haven’t bought a walking taco in years, and that used to be my go-to supper at mbb.

Not exactly sure.
Plus, there’s an indoor area. EDIT: also large tvs showing several different games, phone chargers and two levels with different food choices on each. I don’t understand why loads of people would stop buying Sukup EZ seats if beer sales are allowed in the rest of the stadium.
The flashing trend starting.

I would. If I buy a million tacos at $11.99 instead of $12, I'm saving myself $10k. Who wouldn't want to save $10k?

They’ve said it. Multiple times.
Please provide a link. I would be interested to read or hear. I have heard Pollard say he wants to use alcohol sales as an attraction for premium seating. Perhaps he has insinuated they would lose money opening it to the whole stadium, but I don’t recall it. I’m skeptical they’ve said it “millions of times” as you claim.
