If we can't figure out how to make money by selling $15 beers then I worry about the competency of the people in charge making decisions.

The biggest problem with JTS concessions/possible beer sales is that JP wants to play it like it's still good 'ol Big 8 football and let everything be serviced by charities and offer food choices that are easy for them to handle. All the while complaining about not making enough money to keep up with the rest of college football. If you want to give one or two windows to charities, fine, but ISU really needs to stup up their concessions game.

The money they lose on slow lines, lack of options and over-all poor concession experience is mind boggling to me. Get some real options in there and have it run by people who know what they are doing or quit ******** about not being able to keep up with teh Big 10 and SEC.

I understand times are tough and it isn't easy in the new world of college football, but the one spot where they could start raking in extra cash is a pure train wreck on game day. And I mean train wreck. I have actually sat on the stairs in between quarters and watch people get pissed, belligerent and lose their **** while waiting in line for a walking taco. For ***** sake, if you have to give a couple of pounds of ground beef to a homeless shelter, so what, a walking taco shouldn't take more than 10 seconds to hand out.

Anyway, sorry, end rant. If JP wants to complain about how tough it is, then get your **** together on game day and take people's money. I guarantee you a huge amount of money is lost every football game just on the sheer ineptitude of every concession window.
I can say because of this I rarely ever buy anything from concessions. Maybe a drink, but rarely, and usually it is my wife that goes to get a drink and I have her grab one for me, if its especially hot.

I think they could definitely let a few more food trucks in to help variety and speed.

I eat at the tailgate, drink at tailgate, take a couple waters in to drink/rehydrate, and leave.

Biggest issue I have is the **** show that is exiting parking and the idiots that come up with the exit plan and direct traffic.

2018 was the only time it was sold out.
I doubt that because I'm pretty sure that was before I ever tried to get them. But, if they haven't been sold out recently then I guess we can't blame that on stadium wide beer sales can we? Plus, cool, then I shouldn't have any problem getting them this year. Thanks for the heads up.

Looks like the Edge Club seats at Kinnick which are similar to the Sukup seat, only a smaller section, require a $2,300 PER seat donation plus $450 per season ticket so a total of $5,500 for a pair are sold out for 2024 and they sell beer throughout the stadium. Just an observation.

Quite possibly the worst seats in the entire stadium, thus you have the entice them with alcohol and the indoor option.
Some people like sitting in the endzone, they like the view point from that area, others do not. But those are not even close to being the worst seats in the stadium.

They figure out what they would lose out on Sukup in terms of donations and the cost of those seats and calculate how much they would have to sell to offset that. People think selling alcohol is some huge money maker but look at what schools profit off of it. It’s not as much as you’d think. Iowa made like one mill off of it for an entire year on all sports? If that’s the case it’s very believable Johnny’s and Sukup greatly outweighs that.
Plus you also need expensive liability insurance if you sell alcohol stadium wide. They would make money off of it, but I don’t think it would be a massive profit in the end. More of an argument for the fan experience than the revenue it would generate. Personally I’m not going to buy over-priced stadium beer. I’m good with drinking a few tailgating before, then maybe one or two after the game. Plus u can go out and have one over halftime if you want. Having said that maybe they should do it since more college stadiums are now.

Which ended up being a good business move with the renovations.

Going from small time bleacher seats at rock bottom prices, to a “club” with additional amenities? It was a great move, and proven that some people will pay that premium.

I'm just saying the visuals are ****** from those seats so they needed to add enticements

All of which are Levy problems, as the contract holder. They buy the inventory. They hire the workers. They set the prices.
Partially, I’m not letting Levy off the hook, but the concessions are mostly handled direct to customer by groups and clubs to make money for said clubs. I’m not against it if this is the way JP wants to go, but at some point, if you are going to complain about keeping up, you have to hire a group/staff to actually get product in people’s hands at a reasonable pace. Right now, ISU doesn’t do that.

That's because no one comes to their games. Hyperbole, but always see empty seats when watching their games on TV.
It's true.. only "full" at 40k when Texas or Oklahoma is in town. Even in thier CFP year you could walk up an hour before the game and get decent seats for literally $30. Gary Patterson had many quotes in the Star Telegram complaining about it multiple times over his tenure. Sure.. thier stadium is nice but it's usually half empty. Plus parking at TCU sucks. All the streets are private around the stadium so you get your car ticketed or towed.

Same can be said for Baylor. It pisses me off when they have success, mostly because thier fans just don't show up. And other general Baylor reasons.

At both Baylor and TCU they have plenty of parking away from the stadium and they bus you to the game site. We did the same thing at Clemson last season. I really wish ISU would do the same and use the Cy Ride buses to pick people up before and after the game. At all three spots we waited less than 20 minutes to get on a bus to take us to where we had parked after the game. All three had places well marked to load onto the buses.

If Jami wants people to park further away from the stadium on campus or to the North, then ISU needs to provide buses to get people down to the stadium and back to where they parked.

People seriously complained about no beer sales for years, and are now complaining about the price point of said beers. Cant wait until they announce you’re no longer allowed to leave and re-enter at half time. Surely people won’t complain about that!
iowa state fans would complain about winning a national title because the trophy looks too heavy

I don't believe that it would not make money for a second. Every professional sports stadium sells beer, they have it at concerts. Half the schools in the B12 are selling beer and you mean to tell me that they are not making money doing it?
Just do not buy it, if that is so, then why did they sell beer at the concert they had in the stadium last month? Not making money off beer sells is not the reason..

Actually it really is a large reason especially when you look at the start up overhead. Most schools barely make a little over a million dollars off it, each year after the first year. The first year is typically a net loss.
