I doubt that's true because I've seen it discussed on here that it would make millions.
Maybe a million a year after the first year’s loss.

How can you not understand this?
As fans we are told we need to swallow all kinds of garbage that makes the experience worse because the AD needs every dollar it can get. If the AD can make a million or two more from beer sales it absolutely needs to be.
Interesting they made millions but you're saying we wouldn't?
Yet no one can show the math behind this 67% loss from gross. That’s gross sales, which doesn’t equate to profit.

You mean they would have to actually try? Oh no!!! I guess it's easier to just beg for donations rather than do work. The AD would need to go all in. No dipping in a toe.
Price it right. Have the right product. Make it EASILY available. Eliminate contraband beers at the gate. Have enough security, but not so much that drinkers think they're targeted. Restrooms.
I can't imagine it would be a smooth rollout.
My guess is the fans will not like the price or time required to get a beer. Have we ever been happy with concessions at the stadium?
The AD has an ability to set the expectation for the level of service provided in that contract. The fact that it has been as incompetent at it has been for years says that the AD isn't really putting any pressure on levy in that regard.

Partially, I’m not letting Levy off the hook, but the concessions are mostly handled direct to customer by groups and clubs to make money for said clubs. I’m not against it if this is the way JP wants to go, but at some point, if you are going to complain about keeping up, you have to hire a group/staff to actually get product in people’s hands at a reasonable pace. Right now, ISU doesn’t do that.

Numbers? Until then it's just the same excuses.Security, dram shop insurance, licensing fees, equipment set up and maintenance, the product itself, etc etc. it’s not that hard.
What’s an alternate company in Iowa to handle it then? If you have the answer, let JP know.

That would be a million more than what we are bringing in now. When the athletic department needs every dollar it can get, passing on a million a year is silly.Actually it really is a large reason especially when you look at the start up overhead. Most schools barely make a little over a million dollars off it, each year after the first year. The first year is typically a net loss.
But again, they believe we make more than that off Johnny’s and Sukup. That would be a million more than what we are bringing in now. When the athletic department needs every dollar it can get, passing on a million a year is silly.
There seems to be about 2 million unaccounted for there.Iowa, 2021-22:
$3.2M gross sales
~$3M net sales (gross sales minus sales tax)
$1.13M net commission to the AD (~37.5%)
$340k (30%) of the $1.13M net commission to alcohol harm reduction committee programs
Total AD "take-home": ~$790k, or roughly 25% of the gross sales total
But again, they believe we make more than that off Johnny’s and Sukup.

My word that percentage to the alcohol harm reduction committee seems high.
Has Iowa City seen a spike in alcoholism because fans could get a beer? 1/3 of a million to a committee for doing nothing for revenue generation?
Huh.
I just cannot believe that hundreds of people that are currently buying tickets to Johnny's and the Sukup area would stop doing it just because they could purchase beer without being in one of those areas. But again, they believe we make more than that off Johnny’s and Sukup.
