Kicking on the road is tough.

Feel like on D if you miss an assignment, the computer really goes after that missed assignment and exploits it.

I like to play with one of the LB’s or safeties but usually do my own thing instead of their assigned. Gotta be at like a 75% clip rate that I have given up a huge play or gotten a pick. Think my LB’s have 5 or 6 picks through two games but almost every single time I get burnt it’s where they were supposed to be

Got a delay of game starting the 2nd quarter. Pretty lifelike.

Started a dynasty, with a brand new coach, just to get a feel for the game. Central Michigan, All American Difficulty, 5 min quarters. Played the first game against FCS, and I couldn't stop their hurry up offense. Luckily I got a couple of turnovers early, and maintained a ten digit lead throughout. I ended up winning 59-49. I was about to lower the difficulty until I figured things out a little, but decided to play my next game at Florida International. Complete opposite type of game. Total defensive struggle. It was 7-0 with 3 minutes left in the game. FIU drove down the field and tied it up with a minute and change left on the clock. I ended up kicking the winning field goal as time expired to win 10-7.

I decided to sim the rest of the season, to check out how recruiting works. Made the MAC title game, but lost. Lost my bowl game as well. Ended up signing a class of 22 3-stars. Top ranked class in the MAC, 45th overall. Landed 4 players in the transfer portal, including 2 DTs who will be my starters next year. The incoming freshmen are pretty lowly rated. The highest was a 71, and most are in the upper 60's. Plenty of redshirts to hand out.

I ended up going with the Tactician archetype, and by the end of the year, I had most of the the initial abilities unlocked. With those bonuses, my players play several points higher than their rating. So, some of those freshmen are now rated in the mid 70's so I might try to get some of them on the field instead of redshirting. One thing i noticed is that my newly recruited players have lots more physical/mental abilities than the players who were already on my roster.

Really enjoying it so far. The transfer portal is pretty cool. You can really supplement your roster with talent if you need to. Probably will scrap this dynasty and start a new one where I play all the games, tomorrow.

Someone on youtube posted a full simulated CyHawk game. I watched the entire thing. ISU got a TD with under a minute and won 31-27. Noel had 13 catches, 224 (?) yards and 4 TDs. Rocco threw for 440 yards.

I noticed that INTs might be hard to come by in the game. Iowa dropped a bunch of them and Caleb Bacon dropped one.

I saw a bunch of INTs in the gameplay people were posting over the weekend, but a lot of that was their highlights. Without having played yet, it did look like defense would be the harder of the 2 main units based on all the video.

Defense is pretty tough in general, but haven’t really had an issue with dropped picks

Lot different gameplay than the older versions. I started on Varsity to get a handle for everything and dropped the first game I played against Arkansas State. Tried out a game on Freshman and it’s like playing against my 4 year old. Getting the hang of it, took me missing 3 or 4 extra points before I figured out the kicking. Debating adjusting up to All American for the conference title game in my second season.

I started a dynasty last night on Varsity for a first play through. The defense is so hard. I couldn't do anything to stop the quick passes against Iowa or Arkansas State. They both carved me up whether I tried zone or man. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Literally think McNamara missed like 2 passes all game.

Played almost 4 hours last night

-All-American seems very difficult. Maybe it's because I haven't played in many years.

-AI is very good. Even on the lower difficulties they seem to take advantage of your mistakes.

-Brand recognition seems to be a big player in having your players wanting to transfer. Win games and get primetime game slots to boost this.

-Recruiting seems pretty in depth. They will give you a recommended prospect list to add to your big board.

-There are a few instances where the gameplay reminds me of Madden, but overall it's very fun to play.

-kicking is near impossible, especially on the road.

-I like the new revamped passing. You are able to place the ball wherever you want, using the left stick. Throwing on the run is a little harder but I'm sure with a top QB its easier.

-Personally playing defense seems to be a little difficult. Don't try and hit stick everyone, every time. You'll miss and the computer will run 50 yards.

-The little details on the sideline make it more realistic. Coaches are more realistic, the players. They even have the blue tents.

-Jack Trice looks good in game. Although, there is a lot of gold sprinkled in the stadium.

-Sirens are included after TD's and Mo Bamba will play as well. No "Cyclone First Down"

-ISU uniforms are all in there and look great.

I played about 3 hours last night too.

Dynasty. All-American difficulty. ISU. Offensive Coordinator.

I think I already messed up. I picked "Motivator" as my specialty... but then I'm focusing my recruiting resources on 4-5 star recruits. I need to focus on the 3 stars and motivate them up. If you want to get the 4-5 stars to come to ISU you need to pick the "Recruiter" specialty. I have a lot of visitors coming week six when we host Baylor. Hopefully can get my first commitment after that.

My weekly update shows Jeremiah Cooper and Abu Sama are high threat to transfer out. Probably because Sama is leading the nation in rushing TDs and they think he'll leave to go to a higher level school.

I've been focusing on proximity to home. A lot of Iowa, Illinois and Missouri guys. Coach stability and conference prestige seems good for ISU. Surprising the EA crew gave the Big 12 conference prestige, to be honest. They're incredibly biased to the blue bloods. Defensive side of the ball recruits like ISU's play style. I think it's an A+ with the right recruit.

I'm only playing the offensive plays. I was watching some streamers and they just throw throw throw. I think the AI picks up on that. You have to have a balance. I actually run the ball more with Sama and Hansen.

Throwing the ball in general is hard. I think I had one pass completion over 30 yards after 3 games. I went with the traditional throwing button mechanics but I'm going to look to switch that to the revamped, if possible.

Throwing to the WRs seems far too difficult. Even with Noel and Higgins it feels like they're rarely open. I'm feeding Brahmer like crazy. He leads the nation in catches.

Can't hold the ball too long or scramble much with Becht. He'll get sacked almost every time. Almost impossible to come back from on that possession. And if you don't get sacked you'll get hit while you throw and it's an incompletion every time.

Running is much easier. Follow the blockers and you can get 4-7 yards a carry most plays.

EA has Tyler Miller starting LT. He's the RT. They have Arlen Harris as RB3 and he isn't even on the team anymore. Little annoyances I have noticed.

My first field goal attempt was hilariously bad. I should have taken a Xbox clip capture of it.

Pretty cool they already have the new ISU jerseys, including the white alternate.

What defense is everyone playing? I always did a 4-3 and a 4 man front in the old games so I’m used to that. These new defenses seem tougher to run to me, can’t get with 3 down lineman and all those DBs

It’d be interesting to see other responses of those who have been playing Madden for the past decade. I know the “feel” between NCAA and Madden has always been different in the past, but as someone who hasn’t played a single Madden, the mechanics honestly felt like a major leap forward compared to how much I’m used to NCAA ‘14’s gameplay.
