They always play navy. They could move that back. Pick up an army and then buy a win against a MAC team or so and you have the late part of their schedule filled. They can fill the first 5-6 weeks with p2 playing them non con.
I think many are saying, ND could fill out its schedule. But it would not be an ideal schedule, and would not be as easy as it was in years past when everyone played less conference games.

I have no doubt that ND would be able to pull something off. But it would be a lot more difficult, and it would be far from Ideal situation for them. And some years would be very difficult and they may have a hard time scheduling enough P4 level teams.

Keep in mind NDs is already playing Army this year, possibly in future years, so that may not be an add. ND is playing 4 G5 level teams this year, with only 8 P4 level games, so their scheduling is already suspect. I dont think there are too many....if any, P4 teams that dont play at least 9 P4 games, if not 10.

Is that because they want the easier schedule, or because they have trouble scheduling enough P4 teams?

If ND continues to fill up their schedule with lower level teams over the next many years, especially if the ACC implodes, will they continue to have the weight behind them to insert their influence in the playoff etc.

BS, look at who they are playing not the level of the team, Texas a&m, USC, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Stanford, Purdue and Virginia, that is a very salty schedule most people would say. Sure they play Navy, Army and couple of MAC teams which team doesn't play a few lower level teams? Last season they played Clemson, Ohio State, Pitt, and a few they are facing this season.

This idea that ND plays cupcakes week after week is a myth, hell every B10 west schedule is weaker than the average ND schedule.

He was talking about if they go independent. You’re listing some schools they play because they have a scheduling alliance with the ACC.

They are ND, even with other teams in a conference schedule, teams want to play them, and would be willing to do so on their bye weeks to get it done. BYU played a decent schedule as an independent, this idea that ND would struggle to find find games is crazy.

GT, Louisville, Stanford, Purdue and Virginia are salty? That’s certainly a take when 4 of those teams are guaranteed to be the bottom of their conferences. A&M is never actually good and USC is a massive toss up with no Williams.

Big ten west also no longer exists so for future conversations that gets harder. ND has a very easy schedule this year, they get A&M when their ranking is inflated but besides that they might only play one ranked team in FSU.

You are way overestimating ND’s current value and how badly good programs would bend over to play them. No serious teams are playing ND mid conference schedules. That’s why their ACC partnership fills those gaps.

So you really think that every team in the B10 would turn down a chance to play ND a home and home?

Lets say the ACC goes up in smoke in the next couple of years, ND decides they want to put their teams into the Big East because of those schools being like minded religious schools and the AD of ND came to the B12 and BY and asked if the league would allow ND to join the conference for football and only football for 5 games each year. You really think BY would turn that down? If he did he should be fired the next day, they are ND, and their is only a few teams that can do and ask what they can. Like them or dislike them but its not going to change.

Again see my point. No serious team is playing ND mid conference schedule. Final game I could see but that’s being taken by USC for now. But sure if you want to bend over to another team and blow up your schedule to give them whatever they want go for it, that’s never backfired before. Might really hurt getting Big12 teams into the playoffs most years but it’s ND right?

****, the B10 has been wanting ND for years, only non AAU team they would consider. If ND told the league tomorrow they would join and they have to get rid of MSU to do it, it would be 50/50 if the league would do it.
Not every team in the B10 is Michigan and Ohio St, there are plenty of teams in the league that would play on their bye week to schedule ND and take the bye in the non conference. Its not like they are doing it every year, but once or twice a decade. The arrogance of the B10 teams is only matched by the arrogance of their fans.

The fact Notre Dame isn't AAU kind of shows its a flawed metric in these conversations

Yeah exactly my man, they want them to join as a conference member not some weird deal where they split the rights and add them in mid conference play. Why do you think when OSU, Michigan, MSU, or Purdue play ND it’s before conference play? I get you have a real hard on for ND but come on be serious.

Yep thats right...... What was your other name on here?
SEIACLONE was my other name, I have made no secret of that fact, what GD difference does it make. When we moved, we had to get a different email and I could not remember my log in password and no longer had access to our old email so I could not change the passcode. I have explained all of this before.
