Why do the loudest critics continually discount the ksu game and continually dwell on the bowl game?

Because the conditions allowed for several explosive plays that were not the norm for ISU or about any team.
ISU was more explosive last year but I would like to see how much that game changed the team's rankings in those categories.
All that said I would guess the same folks will expect Sama to break off 70 yard runs often next year.
I’m fully prepared to yell at Mouser for not running the 70 yd touchdown play in our first series against ND
That’s a response.
That’s a response.
Was it incorrect or something?
Already in the bowl game thread I'm pretty sure there were 'What happened to KSU game Sama?' type posts which is 1) unfair to the player and 2) shows a complete ignorance as to how sports goes.
What was ISU ranked in explosive plays before the KSU game?
Rewatched the condensed game highlights of Snowmageddon. Forgot how much of a rollercoaster that was.
Had to come back from behind. K-State drove it close before we got the final stop. No idea what would happen the next moment with the snow.
Some big stops by our defense were the difference.
Fun and memorable game, but I felt like I needed a smoke afterwards.

We probably don’t have as many explosive plays without the snow. But didn’t K-State have to play in the same conditions?
Understand there was some flukiness, but ultimately our defense came through when they needed to.
One of my favorite ISU games at least recently. Weird conditions, players just out there running around.
One of those 'hey, they're hanging around a bit' to 'hey they've got a chance' to 'oh here we go, last drive in Manhatten' to 'THEY DID IT!!'.
I get your point here. But Kansas State played in the same conditions and didn't make explosive plays that night. I think it is fair to take the conditions into account, but also some credit is deserved and it shouldn't be completely dismissed.

Yeah it's not really about that and I'm not trying to discount the KSU game (although it sounds like it).
ISU earned the win and their defense was underrated given the circumstances. If anything it showed a bit of what some of ISU's specialists can do in a footrace. There's some speed there.
I'm just genuinely curious how much it affected ISU's rankings on those stats; they had some explosiveness throughout the season.
Many of the same guys that were calling for CMC’s job last season are now being irrationally critical of this team before the season starts. They don’t want to talked about the crap the team had to go through in the off season last year. Or how we lost both our starting QB and starting RB. Neither loss was planned. They don’t talk about how incredibly young our team was last year and had to roll with several freshman at key spots. And they like to doubt the results of a true freshman running back who showed big play ability and has likely only scratched his potential. They like to say Campbell has only been average, but he is clearly the best coach in Iowa State history. We don’t like talking about it but the reality is he does more with less than much of our competition. We are not blessed with a loaded state for recruiting and we are not blessed with high end donors. Football more than any sport benefits from both. CMC is not perfect but damn he has been good. Better than I thought possible as a Cyclone of 50+ years. So, I choose to be optimistic entering the season because we return a lot of young talent and years like this have been rare in our history. It is going to be fun seeing how this season plays out. I hope it takes us to the Big 12 Championship, but I also understand it will take some luck for that to happen.
I am surprised how negative people are in general and how it almost seems personal at times. We are a very passionate fan based. I understood the negativity when we saw Prohm destroying something we cared about. But I don't understand some people's beef with Matt. He has taken the program places many didn't think possible. Iowa State has some built in limitation for football, Matt has done a good job overcoming those. Many successful coaches would have bolted to someplace where it is easier to coach. I too get pissed when we lose, but the season hasn't even started yet.I really wonder if the internet world has skewed how we (collectively) view things when they're not amazing all the time.
I think you’re taking things way too seriously…and many times you continue to take things out of context. Comments on bulletin boards are many times emotional reactions to a moment in time and you can’t let them go as that. When someone tries to actually discuss from a statistical point of view you alway resort back to a post here or there that is completely irrelevant to the current discussion In an effort to discredit them rather than participating in the current discussion.I am surprised how negative people are in general and how it almost seems personal at times. I agree with this wholeheartedly, however we have never had an OL coach like Clanton as well. Now, he says all the right things, and there was some improvement from the OL last year. I dont know if i am optimistic about the OL, but i am extremely curious to see how they look as a whole with a second year under ClantonI’m half joking about the G5 stuff. It’s not great but not that big of a deal. What I’m not joking about is the never-ending “Best OL we’ve ever had” crap year after year after year. When I see that it’s automatically “our OL isn’t going to be good again”. Just shut up about it already. It’s the most important unit in CFB and we’re never more than mediocre at best. Just say we’re probably going to be mediocre but cross our fingers that a guy or two steps up and surprises to the next level and drives the unit to better things. I don’t get why the media won’t let us have a nice surprise instead of building us up for disappointment year after year.
Oh yeah I'm screaming for it every first down.
Like, just score, ya know?
