Just listened to yesterday’s FRL and they spent some time speculating about David Carr wrestling at the upcoming WTT. The speculation was around Carr dropping to 70 kgs.

Carr at 70 seems very unlikely to me. But, I hadn’t even heard that he was planning to wrestling at the WTT. Anyone have any insight on his plans?

I haven't seen or heard anything official, but I saw Carr was out East training with JB, which is super cool to see.

This is awesome and I think it is what prompted the 70kg speculation. It does seem a little strange that JB and Carr would be training together when they would likely be competing against each other at the trials.

Cael had been retired for 7 or 8 years when he made his 'comeback'. Taylor's only been out a few months. Motivations may be similar, but circumstances are not.

Is there an article or something where Cael says he did it to motivate his guys? I don’t remember that narrative back when it happened. He entered after his team won and NCAA championship. Seems like he already had them properly motivated.

Also, if Taylor makes the team, I believe the world championships are during wrestling wrestling season. They are in Albania on 10/28-31. Maybe @theshadow knows when the first official practice is this year? Cael’s worlds were September.

First practice date: Oct. 10
First competition date: Nov. 1

Standard, every year.

I don't have a link or an article but I could swear it was said he told his team he would enter if they won the championship.

Edit:

Sounds like he made a deal to go to a qualifying regional tourney if they won BigTen's.

Here's a video I found that Pyles made last year about it:
