I just got back from watching marcus carry his team in to the finals, and let me tell you i was very impressed. Marcus took the team on his shoulders and sparked a late come back over bettendorf with Air Force committ Zach Bohannon sitting on the bench after fouling out. He is a very smooth guard with a long wing span. He can get to the hoop very easily and is good at drawing contact. He is also a very good shooter as he hit a huge 3 late in the game, he also made all of his free throws down the stretch. Marcus also has amazing quickness. This kid is the complete guard who i expect will explode by the time hes a senior. ISU needs to get this kid locked up and soon, he is a cant miss talent in the state of iowa. It will be very fun to watch him take on HB and ames, should be a good match up between him and palo.

My best friend from back home coaches basketball at Linn-Mar. Word out of him is that this kid will likely be the best player ever to come out of Linn Mar. If people aren't familiar with their program as of late, that's a pretty big compliment being that it's becoming a D-1 factory as of late. Some products of their program in recent years include Grant Gibbs (Gonzaga), Jason Bohanon (Wisconsin), Jordan Printy (Indiana State), Travis Nelson (Wyoming), Zach Bohannon (Air Force commit), Nate Hutcheson (Western Michigan commit).

Sounds as if he likes Iowa State and that our best chance to get him would be early. He'll become more in the spotlight as he gets older and they're older stars head off to college.

I can believe that, i think he will end up at something like a 4 star with a 5 star not being out of the question.

Wouldn't surprise me. He's playing at a pretty high level right now for a freshman. If he continues to grow he could be incredible.

Could somebody fill us in on this kids details? Freshman guard? How tall, how big, what sort of game does he have? Who does he remind you of? Wouldn't he be classmates with Staten out of SC West if he comes to ISU?

He's 6' max and pretty slight. Of course, he's a 9th grader. He's in the same class as Staten. The concern about paige is not his talent but his size for the Big 12/10. We've offered so we feel OK about it. He'd be great at the point with Staten at the 2.

He is very small right now, but I do think he's only 14 years old. Who knows with kids at this age? Could end up 6'0" or could end up 6'5". Sounds like that's the biggest variable.

Just FWIW, he's also been attending a lot of Iowa games, and *hopefully* will be picking up an Iowa offer soon. If this kid is half as good as he's cracked up to be, it would definitely be a shame if he went out of state.

True, but they always do seem to go out of state.

Marcus is 6' tall, 140 pounds dripping wet can jump out of the gym, has a smooth left handed shot, and is going to hit a lot teammates in the back of the head with passes if they are not looking in the next three years.

With all due respect, I'm sure that he has. However, I think he'd probably be attending more ISU games if it weren't a nearly 2 hour drive from the east side of CR versus a 30 minute drive to Iowa City. Just a thought...

Who in their right mind would ever go to Iowa to play basketball? The future doesn't look bright and the recruits are not big ten talent. UI needs to invest in the bball team and the facilities.

According to the iowa pos(t)ers on here, they really came on strong this season and are miles ahead of ISU in basketball already. Just thought I'd let you know so as to spare them the need to keep posting over here to prove there dominance in all things.

Well, some might say the same thing about Iowa State. And the Hawks did hammer the Clones this year. Clones had one of the best 5 players in their conference and still couldn't win more than 4 games. I still have hope for several guys that didn't show much this year.....but I assume the Hawks do too.
