If you are able to walk definitely try and park south of the stadium near the Benton Street area (watch out for no parking areas). There used to be an old open lot at either a school or a church that you could pay to park in. Leave via Highway 1. It won't be quick but it'll definitely be quicker.

I grew up going to games at Kinnick and have been to more Cyhawk games there than I can remember. It's always a cool atmosphere and I've never had a big issue with fans other than the expected "**** state". Like others have said, go, have fun, don't be a prick yourself and you'll be fine. As much as I love some good smack talk, you're better off to just hold it in and not instigate.

Two demographics to avoid:
1. Frat Boys
2. anybody that looks remotely similar to this

frat boys and the above referenced are literally 96% of the Hawkeye fan base.

After watching my mom, just walking to the stadium with a isu T-shirt, get a beer can thrown at her when we went to the game when I was a kid I never wanted to go back.

In Ames me and a buddy had a truck of Hawkeye fans jump out and try to start a fight and we just laughed at them.

Another time outside Jack trice at a tailgate I yelled at an ISU student for harassing some Iowa fans that looked like students and went to apologize to them and they look at me and just said “f*ck you and state”.

So yeah I’m never going to cheer for the Hawkeyes, and anyone who says that isu fans are soft or over reacting has never actually gotten the full Iowa fan experience. I’m sure that by the numbers the good fans outweigh the bad, but the good fans are absolutely terrible at policing their own and owning up to the terrible **** their comrades do.

We must have sat by each other. I had the exact same experience ;)

Same. Two middle aged Karens dumped beer on me, multiple times. I turned to say something, but their husbands were just itching to jump me. I was not being obnoxious, and was attending with friends who were Hawk fans. This was in my former boss' seats - so a pretty pricey donor section, with "grown ups".

Told this story before, but met a Western Ill fan at an ISU game who had a worse story. It was raining, and we had a tent set up so I offered him a brat and a beer, and couldn't believe it. He was really nervous, because the year before they'd played in IC and he had had beer cans and abuse thrown at his car, as he tried to drop his elderly mother off at the stadium so she could watch her grandson play. They were both terrified, he literally thought he was going to be assaulted in front of his mother.

Just far far far too many drunk, angry, confrontational, in-your-face a**holes - of all ages. And a lot of them are proud of this 'environment'.

Never again.

I’ve been to a lot of away games. Iowa fans are no doubt the worst but that’s probably to be expected due to the rivalry. Mind your own business and you should hopefully get out of there with no issues.

Jesus. Hawk fans are the worst.

I've told this story before too but I've taken my kids to many, many ISU football games. But last year some drunk ass moron in a Fry shirt whipped his junk out and started pissing right in the middle of C2 in clear sightline of my daughter. He clearly didn't care whatsoever. That was fun trying to explain that to her. Again, hawk fans are the worst.

Mostly EIU fans down there, but you will be surprised there are a few ISU fans as well. Say the ratio is 10/1 or so. SE Iowa might as well be Johnson Co, overall.

Not exactly sure.
Just try not to get peed on (probably intentional) or vomited on (probably accidental).

After two straight games in Iowa City of seeing someone trying to pee on someone else I decided to never go back.
What’s is it with hawk fans wanting to pee, or throw pee, on other people?

They do the same thing in Ames when they come. Pissing right in the middle of parking lots. They are really weird.

Be prepared to be killed with kindness. You'll probably be offered more appetizers and beverages than one can handle so you can afford to be choosy just pick the best and politely decline the others. Have fun I know you will
I take it you started pregame drinking last night.

I think a lot will come down to who you are with. If you have any Hawkeye fans in your group, you will probably be left alone. If you are a group of ISU fans and have no flint stones with you, that is when you will get targeted faster.

What I thought was bad by itself is they will boo their own players from introduction to the finish. They hated Petras but I respected that kid for taking the heat for baby Ferentz who would hide after games.

Well, I guess this clarifies my question, Hawkeyes show kindness by peeing on each other.

Iowans of all rooting interests are the best. I've been to so many cyhawks, both stadiums. Always had great times. If you're used to Trice you'll miss the ease factor. Parking, and traffic is much more difficult at Iowa City. This game is even worse from that standpoint because of all the people who come but don't go to game.
