Congratz! Great win for ISU and the Big 12!
I fully expected to see a time out there. First-year kicker, high-pressure situation, long FG attempt, KF on the sideline - all the signs pointed to “ice the kicker,” but they didn’t try it.Just researched the last couple minutes.
1. Iowa with the ball with like 1:25 left, we are out of timeouts and make a stop...and the clock ticked
2. Iowa takes a delay of game vs using a timeout for their punter. Now those 5 yards matter.
3. Noel, back to back great moves/plays.
4. Panic when Brehmer tackled in bounds and the clock was running.
5. I was surprised iowa didn't try to ice our kicker.
Awesome ending...now
ISU has won 4 of the last 6 played in the vaunted historic Kinnick Stadium.Didn't realize it until this morning but even after all the suffering we've endured in this series in recent years, we're still 12-14 against Iowa since McCarney broke the streak in 1998. Not too shabby. Until I added it up, I would have guessed Iowa's recent success in the CyHawk would have tipped the balance farther in their direction.
I counted it down a couple times this morning, there should have been at most 5 seconds on the clock to 4.5 seconds after the field goal. No way a kick that far only took 3 seconds. Same with the kick off,I timed it twice at 4.5 seconds assuming they clock it as soon as it crossed the bar.
Final stats are much better than they were the first half...

And not starting the clock on the ensuing kick return until the returner had run 10 yardsSomeone investigate the clock operator for only taking 3 seconds off the clock on the 54 yard field goal
Iowa State played very well in the second half and obviously won the game, but that doesn't change the fact that the offense was putrid in the first half. It was like we were scared. Fortunately the defense hung in there until the offense got something going. The bottom dropped out of this thread when Rocco threw the bad pick at 3:14pm, as evidenced by Pages 24-28. It's fun to look back and see what was being said when the ball wasn't bouncing our way.

Make certain your lap bar restraints are secured as this looks like a wild ride...
I still haven't seen JW's call posted but if you have the Varsity app, search On Demand and go to the 5:32.00 mark for the game winning drive.
Freerents isn't leaving and EIU cannot afford to buy him out, its a pipe dream to think he is going to walk away from them with that much cash on the line. He will stay to get the most wins by a B10 coach all time and hold the record for most wins and losses when he is finished.Kirk’s buyout is $30 million.
