It’s always fun to hear Ben Bruns drool over the Cyclone OL.

Latest gem: “Nineteen year old Ben Bruns is nowhere near as good as Trevor Buhr”.

(Edited)

Twenty-two year old Ben Bruns was what, a third team All American?

He brought up something that struck me as well. Campbell is calling (some?) plays? He said the int by Rocco was his fault. Definitely noteworthy
I took it as Campbell said throw it deep regardless. Which maybe he did? He could have called an audible into the bad decision. Either way I believe him if he says it was his fault.

He’s a notorious sunshine pumper, especially when it comes to O line play. Wish somebody with a more jaundiced eye would take over the podcast.
And you are a notorious awful poster especially when it comes to everything you post about.

Have you listened to his podcasts the last few seasons? It’s not like I’ve been the only person calling this out.
I have listened to every one and think Ben is as fair as there is, plus he was an All-American at the position, developed several power 5 level linemen while a coach at Valley. Not to mention Iowa State is 3-0, ranked in the top 20 and just won a game 52-7. Not sure calling out sunshine pumping is the path I’d go down today, but all good!

Meh, he has good analysis that tends to be on the optimistic side. The only time I would say he waded into sunshine pumping territory was after the 2022 win in Iowa City. He thought the OL was going to kick ass the rest of the year. But that was after a big win when the OL played well against a great defense.

I would not call him a sunshine pumper. He is an optimistic Cyclone and likes to give the benefit of the doubt.

Don’t twist my words. He’s one of the best O Linemen we’ve had. Up there with KO. Your response has nothing to do with my original post. Just pointing out his analysis is sometimes more than optimistic.

You wished someone else would take over the podcast. I’m sure CW would be open to other, more qualified folks.

To be fair there are some CFers that struggle with TJ being successful so they may just be trying out other vessels to ride out while ISU is having a nice football season.

In my informal opinion the OL has maybe looked like the best one in the CMC era so far.

**Before someone comes in with 'we'll it's a low bar', them starting out with successes is still a really good thing.

I didn’t listen to Ben, is he happy with the Oline through the first 3 games. It feels to me they are improved. Obviously inferior competition for the first 3 games…

He said he liked some of the things the line was doing. Said younger guys are playing because they are pretty good instead of necessity.

Why does it matter that a former player and radio analyst has an optimistic outlook on a podcast?
