The "leak" wasn't anywhere near as good as the Cyclones script on the basketball jerseys. It was generic cursive. I'll be disappointed if it was real

No. People didn't like it as soon as they saw it.
Apologies, that leak was not a legit photo created by the social team, so that script is not correct. The script that will be used is the one in this photo, just like the basketball team. The Cyclone Football Twitter account also put out a hype video that has the correct logo in black in white used at the very end.

Couldn't agree more. It looks like it could be a logo for Combos or Totinos pizza rolls.

I’ll tell you the one issue I have: the block font IOWA STATE on the jersey doesn’t match the script Cyclones in the helmet. I understand there’s probably not much that could have been done at this point because it’s probably a hell of a lot easier to make custom decals than it does custom jerseys, but it does trigger my OCD. But that’s my only complaint - that is a clean look.

I like the 5 bars, both ideas here. Wish they thought that there than the 1 stripe. I'd be fine for the numbers or the retro the font for Cyclones.
