Way up there
I'm guessing nothing happened, they are just trying to get ahead of any Texas type of situation. JP wants to avoid that 250k fine.

I think the only thing I noticed from the drunks was exuberant hugging when we scored the game winning TD.
It was only the student section. I had no idea what they were throwing, but it happened all game and some made the field or at least came very close.

I’d bet they could stop it. Aim a camera at the student section and document instances of people with shooters. Send pictures of offending students to faculty to identify. Revoke their tickets. Hell, facial recognition these days probably cuts out the need for turning students in. They have a database of all the students’ pictures. Shouldn’t be that hard.
Where I am totally against the throwing this is crazy. Set up a few security if you need to and escort anyone throwing things out. Do you work for the Iowa DCI.

Are we turning into Hok fans?
Hawkeye fans have to walk 5 miles to get to the convoluted pods for football Saturdays amongst the greater Iowa City/Coralville area. Probably sobers you up by the time you get to your destination.

Oh yes, it’s way over the top. The poster just said they couldn’t do anything about it. I simply showed that there’s something that could be done if they really want to.

To me, the drinking isn’t an issue as much as the safety from the bottles. If you step on one of those on the steps, you could easily slip and go down a lot of concrete steps before you stop. That’s a pretty big lawsuit you could have.

I saw it happen. There were lots of bottles being thrown, but
seems like an overstatement to say it was "an absolute blitz of stuff coming down." It was much less compared to what I've seen at other stadiums or when a home baseball team loses a big game on a bad call.
I don’t care about changing your mind but it sucked. Our seats are on the end of 29 and 28. Instead of being able to fully enjoy the moment with family I spent all of Mr Brightside watching for stuff coming down from above so they didn’t get blindsided, and told more than one person coming up the steps to look up.

Empty airplane bottles are annoying and it happens every single game, but full bottles (you could see water spraying out as they spun) could do some damage at impact. Glad our seats aren’t in 28 and glad nobody was actually hurt.

Can confirm student bottle throwing was insane all game and multiplied by 100 after the TD and Mr. Brightside. Though I saw 0 issues in the lots.

Did see after a TD students threw water bottles in the air.
Man, if that would have happened before the student section was moved, there might have been some UCF players accidentally hit and a penalty which could have led to a tieing FG. I understand that it was a jubilant moment, but throwing cups and bottles in the air to celebrate is not a good thing IMO.

I was in school in the 80s and we had our share of oranges thrown...
I saw one of those oranges thrown from the upper deck land right at the feet of a ref. I swear I thought it would be a direct hit. And no, I wasn't the thrower.

Also saw a streaker run on the field towards the other team's cheerleaders (K-State early nineties maybe?). Totally nude. The cheerleaders were literally cringing. It was actually pretty hilarious.

We got a lot of oranges from the dungeon in Friley and the food service workers hated it because students took all they had

I'm a pretty tame tailgater but just in case I feel a little overexcited..... I'm going to cut back to 11 beers before kickoff.
