Here’s one I remember fondly that I haven't seen posted yet. 2010 vs Texas Tech. We won 52-38 in a back and forth game. Tech tried an onside kick late and Jeremy Reaves housed it. For some reason that one has stuck with me.

It's interesting the games that stick out for a person.

On your list:
  • Victory over TT & Mahomes was memorable.
  • Beating OSU in 2011 was biggest for me.
  • The 3OT win over Iowa in 2011 was most enjoyable for me. But what sticks out to me is James White's run over everything Steele did.
The other games that tend to stick out for me other than w/l or score.
  • KU game in 2013 which was coldest game in school history. Clones kicked a$$
  • Playing OU in 1984? at night. Ended up a close game and it was a long day!
  • The KU game in 2006 with all the talk about Mac needing a win to keep his job.
  • 1996 loss to Wyoming is season opener. Really great environment for night game, but Clones blew big 4th quarter lead. I believe it was first season of current OT rule and MAC took the ball 1st after winning toss.
  • 1997 game against the Gophers in the dome. Clones lost 53-29 and it looked like a HS team against a very average college team. We were so much smaller than the Gophers. At that point I wondered if ISU would ever have an average football team. Good new is Mac got it done.
That 2013 KU game was so much fun! We had walls on our tents with heaters and if you walked out of the tent your beer turned to slush instantly. Very few people at the game, but those of us there were having a great time. I think the ushers/security were too cold to care that anyone was doing shots during the game.

2011 (E)IU. My first great game in person.
2011 OSU. Epic.
2016 TTU. Lanning > Mahomes.
2017 TCU. At that point, I thought "Juicy Wiggle" was the leg-drag move that Purdy made on the TD. Didn't they play it twice?
2024 UCF. Recency bias.

I remember that one well. We got out to a big lead but Tech came roaring back to tie it up at halftime I think. Then the second half was super exciting capped off by the onside kick return. It was just a really FUN game.

The 2002 Nebraska game has a special place in my heart. Took my gf, now wife, to the game. Although she had tix as a student, she gave them away to friends while tailgating. So, our tailgate ends up next BC’s parents and the Twister Sisters’ tailgate!

We’re up in what was Section M. In the 4th quarter, I turned to Mrs Joe and said “when we win, we’re storming the field. If we get separated, meet me back at the tailgate.”

We hold hands all the way down to the field. I help her over the wall, take two steps onto the grass, and suddenly, I have no idea where she is!

We reunited at the tailgate about 30 minutes later!

2007 CU.

Nothing meaningful other than a big come back and funny ending.

Was that the game where they had 2 tries at a last second FG negated by a penalty and then time running out? Thats one of the first ISU games I really remember the ending of. Was in like first grade at the time and still have my souvenir hot chocolate cup from that day.

Yep.

ISU was down 21-0 at half, came back, took the lead, then did their trademark thing of having a chance to put the game away before letting it get weird.

For the last play, since there was a penalty prior, the clock started as soon as the ball was put down, so time ran out before the ball was snapped.

The refs basically sprinted off the field after announcing the call.

Sneaky one. I was there in the student section as they carried him by. It was pretty damn cold if I remember right.
It was very cold. Most of our crew had thrown in the towel and gone home for Thanksgiving. Me and one buddy and both of our girlfriends tailgated and stormed the field.

Wow, I had forgotten about that game. I was there and yes, the ending was bizarre.

That was the first game I went to at Trice. Parents‘ weekend, my daughter was a junior and my son a freshman. My wife and I actually left early (to go back to her parents’ house in Boone) and missed the onside kick TD return.

2015 Texas - That was a sneaky fun one. I was sitting in the southwest corner, and Texas was driving towards that end zone. We were going to obviously win, but the fun we had cheering and rooting for the defense to keep the shut-out in tact.

2018 WVU/K-State - WVU game was my first shift of work (at night!) at my current company. I kept ESPN open on a computer and checked it as often as I could.

I had planned to finish my shift here in the metro and then drive up to Ames and just buy a ticket for K-State. I had an AWFUL day...stayed 2.5 hours late, and just went home and crashed. Tried to watch the game, but with the TV provider I had available, I only knew Cyclones were down when I went to bed. Woke up early the next morning, and just spent 10 minutes scrolling Twitter, experiencing the game that way.

Otherwise, I was at 2005 Colorado, 2011 OSU, only PART of 2017 TCU, and 2024 UCF.

After the talk about how great the UCF game was, I thought I would try to rank my favorite games at JTS the last 20 or so years that I have been following the Cyclones primarily based upon the atmosphere.

I bolded my top 4 and underlined the next 5. It is hard me to rank them beyond tiers.

I'm sure others will have different takes.
  • 2005 Iowa - we just dominated this game from the start and JTS was rocking. The Hicks Pick 6 was electric. Almost felt over at the half.
  • 2005 Colorado - the Tornado game vs Joel Klatt. Epic atmosphere with the Curvey Pick 6.
  • 2007 Iowa - How many TDs does it take to beat Iowa? 0.
  • 2011 Iowa - Steele Jantz.
  • 2011 OSU - Changed college football. LOL at OSU fans still mad about the missed FG.
  • 2017 TCU - It wasn't a great game, but the crowd was in it the whole game. A Prove It game for the program.
  • 2018 West Virginia - Choppy game, but it was fun. I think Juicy Wiggle became a thing at this one.
  • 2018 K-State - Cathartic. Broke the losing streak and sent off Bill Snyder the right way. I was delirious dancing the Juicy Wiggle after the Mike Rose Pick(?)-6.
  • 2019 Texas - a walk off field goal to win was fun. Fun fact: former Packers kicker Brayden Narveson missed a go ahead FG late, but Texas was offsides due to our long snapper.
  • 2020 OU - crowd was pissed the whole night. It was great.
  • 2020 Baylor - like this year's UCF where Purdy threw one pick 6 and almost another one before leading the Cyclones back from a 2 TD deficit in the 3rd quarter.
  • 2021 OSU - great finish. Overcame some awful officiating.
  • 2024 Baylor - the white out was super cool. Blocked punt TD was electric.
Honorable Mentions
  • 2006 UNLV is an honorable mention due to their coach chasing the refs off the field, tripping on a cord, and falling flat on his face. LOL.
  • 2006 Mizzou win to send off Coach Mac. It wasn't a great game and Shaggy missing a 28 FG made it very stressful, but Pinkel melting down afterwards about the holding call was also LOL.
  • 2016 Texas Tech: 66-10 over Pat Mahomes.
  • 2024 UCF was a great finish, but boy, was this game stressful and the crowd was out of it most of the game.

I was in high school at the time and my brother let me go in the student section with him. That game was a blast.

Iowa State beating Nebraska in 37-28 in 1976. Something that just didn't happen than. And we beat them in Lincoln the next year as a "prove it"

Honorable mention, a whole slew of Troy Davis games where he ran for crazy yards.
Agree on ‘76 Nebraska game #1. Followed by the Okie St and 44-41 TOE games in ‘11.
Troy running for 300 yards or whatever it was against Mizzou was amazing.

I was there too. Didn't Kock have a great game that day? We had a lot of fun with that name.
