What’s wrong with the offense?

We all get it. Why can't Campbell get it? Iowa State is probably the easiest team in the country for a defensive coordinator to prepare for. That is what I find so frustrating. Gotta get more creative and more aggressive.
I mean we are averaging over 30 points a game and would have easily surpassed that on Saturday without the 3rd qtr fumble, punching in at the 1, a couple of key drops. I don’t love some of the player personnel, formations, and plays being called but we aren’t easiest to gameplan for.

Sometimes I think the coaches overthink things. TT is the worst pass defense in the country and ISU only threw the ball in long situation. Also, they really need to add some screen passes and some short over the middle stuff to make the LBers back off a bit. I personally was frustrated when ISU came out in a run formation on virtually ever first down and then ran into an 8 man front. There are a lot of issues with the offense, but being less predictable would help a lot. I think Rocco is a decent QB, but he has not improved from last year. He is just too inconsistent with his passes. The defense is what it is with all the injuries. TT gave up 51 point to Abilene Christian. 22 points is embarrassing.

I think the offense has got pretty conservative for handful of reasons:
-Oline has struggled in the the run and protecting the QB
-Running game has struggle with a banged up Carson
-Roco has be very inconsistent and wonder if the coaches have some concern with tossing int's
-Injuries at TE
-Struggle in the redzone lately(short yardage game has been bad)

I also think teams are catching on to our play calling. It's been very predictable after the WVU game
Rocco has been inconsistent at times, but not "very" inconsistent.

Fair enough. But the offense is predictable a good amount of the time. If us fans watching at home know what play is coming, which we do at least 10 times a game, then opposing defenses surely know. I just don't think Campbell and Mouser are taking full advantage of the talent we have. That has been pretty common over the last few years.

Whatever word you want to choose, but every game this year he has had a qtr or half where he has been inconsistent. To me that is very inconsistent

He's consistently-inconsistent at some point in the game. That's workable, just have to watch for and minimize it with game flow. He also always comes back to form. It's just a matter of getting to that point without damage.

Our playcalling is definitely predictable and shows to be a problem. I think some of that is a lack of clear dudes to make plays that aren't our WR1 and WR2. We need plays to be made by other people, too.

A little play-action on first downs would help that a lot, I think. It’d open up the running lanes so Hansen and Sama aren’t running into eight guys all the time.
