BYU @ Utah is going all-color match-up tomorrow night:
Generally, I'm not a big fan of monotone sets, and BYU-UU could have a sharp "color matchup" just using the main unis, but in this case, it's kind of cool.
Rivalries with strongly contrasting colors should embrace the color on color look. USC-UCLA has a history with it, but I would love to see the likes of UGA-Florida, UVA-VT, or TCU-Baylor (Or SMU) try it.

Monotone looks as "small time" ended a long time ago. NFL teams wear it all the time.
Don't know if it still happens but years ago the home team would get a flag and then the away team would decline it.
It's .... OK, but so much is close to the standard design, it pales in comparison.

Those Houston Texans color ways were bad. Had they used that alt logo/helmet/shoulder before?

Regarding the gold pants, they probably wouldn't look great, but we should do a c/c/g. What's the harm? We had that look pretty much from the 2008 - 2016 set (the USC look). Let's just see it again in the present uni set. We had gold pants the first year of Chizik also, 2007 (included cardinal jerseys with white numbers).
My opinion, for what it matters - 1. There isn't much gold in the helmet or jersey, so it won't look great, but it also wouldn't be horrible, see 2007. 2. Most of us got tired of the c/c/g look from 2008 - 2016. 3. The majority of ISU fans don't think the present mustard gold looks good in the FB uniform pant or helmet. The present coach certainly feels this way. 4. It will probably get me jump started on working to complete my darker gold mocks. I think ISU really needs to add a darker gold, even if just for the FB pant and any potential future FB helmet, keep the present gold for most everything else, if they wanted.
But, you have to think we will see the gold pants at least once this year? Why order them otherwise? We will be wearing c/w/g, or w/w/g against Utah. That's my prediction anyway.
The gold pants from 2008-16 had the Cardinal side side stripes which are far different than the all gold from the current set.
Yeah those "gold" (yellow) pants with the stripes were great, as were the Cardinal pants with the stripes. Goddamn, miss those stripes!
The Chizik 2007 'bright yellow shimmer-sheen high school-quality' pants (with the ill-sized bird-in-a-blender logo hastily sewed on last minute) were absolutely awful. Such an embarrassing look.
