UNIs 2nd best player, Grace Boffelli, left the game Saturday with a lower leg injury and came back to the bench wrapped with ice. I kind of doubt she plays.
Didn't she get hurt just before our game last year too?

UNI's best player is, of course, Maya McDermott. 1st-team all conference last year. 5th-year senior on her COVID year. High-volume shooter (nearly as many shots per 40 minutes as Audi last season). Decent but not spectacular three-point shooter. Only 5'6". Good a/to ratio. Among the best FT shooters in the country.
I have no doubt she'll go 8-10 from 3 on Wednesday to make us all sweaty and uncomfortable for 40 minutes.

I believe so. I know she missed a chunk of time with a shoulder that stretched into the beginning of league play.

Does anyone have any idea how UNI is this year? It looks like they have 5 players on their roster >6' (although I have no idea how good they are or how much they play)

In past years, it felt like there were always several ladies that played with a chip on their shoulder after not getting an in-state offer. I'm not necessarily worried about the outcome, just curious if anyone had any insight.
I worry when the other 3 Iowa schools treat it as their national title game everytime when they play ISU. Got to match and exceed the other team's energy.

I don’t think our ladies ever come into these games without focus and energy. The only bad thing is Carver Hawkeye always seems to have bad juju.

Ain’t that the truth. I remember taking a bus trip there in 08-09 and getting blown out barely putting up 40- especially for a team that would go on to the elite 8.

It was the first instate loss since 04-05 though.

Big blow for UNI. Boffeli's injury is an ACL. She'll miss the year and I'm guessing that's it for her career. She's already done her student teaching and is probably ready to move on to real life. Great player that just couldn't catch a break for an extended period of time.

She was always a nightmare matchup against us, always tough to stop.

She certainly could consider getting a masters.

I like the UNI program and the UNI coach, so this is horrible news for them.

UNI almost beat ISU the last time we played in Cedar Falls, largely due to Grace Boffeli. We had Ashley Joens and Stephanie Soares, two future WNBA draft choices, yet UNI owned the second half and almost took the game because Boffeli was unstoppable. The only thing that saved us was she didn't shoot free throws well.

I was really looking forward to seeing Crooks do battle with a crafty vet like Grace Boffeli - I think it would have been beneficial for both of them.
