At the moment, SEC vs. Big XII from top to bottom using National Ranking first, then Conference Ranking after that to fill in the opponents:

# 03 Texas (10-1) vs. # 16 Ariz. State (9-2)
# 07 Georgia (10-2) vs. #18 Iowa State (9-2)
# 08 Tennessee (9-2) vs. #19 B.Y.U. (9-2)
# 13 Alabama (8-3) vs. #24 Kansas State (8-3)
# 14 Ole Miss (9-3) vs. #25 Colorado (9-3)
# 15 South Carolina (8-3) vs. NR Baylor (7-4)
# 20 Texas A&M (8-3) vs. NR T.C.U. (7-4)
# 21 Mizzou (8-3) vs. NR Texas Tech (7-4)

Let's have Yormack call Slive with a Conference Challenge!

Looks like a fun slate of games to me.

Let's Go State!

:bugle:
Sorry…. but the Big 12 likely loses all of those games.

I wouldn’t mind if the P4 conferences all agreed to a 8 game conference schedule. Then 2 games can be against non P4 teams and 2 games against other P4 teams (ND would count as P4, of course)

That may quiet the debate about 8 vs 9 conference games. But I know the $EC would still object to that plan

Uh... disagree a decent amount there.

I'll take Texas Tech pretty easily over Missouri.
This end of season version of Baylor would most likely beat South Carolina.
And I'll also take K-State over Bama. Bama has lost games both to mobile QB's (Vanderbilt), physical teams up front (Oklahoma) and got shoved all over the field (Oklahoma)
Colorado over Ole Miss currently

The rest? Yeah. Probably the SEC. Georgia's a bad matchup for Iowa State, but they are for most teams.
Tennessee over BYU for sure.
Texas over AZ State
Probably A&M over TCU although that one is interesting

Maybe. Maybe not. Would be fun trying! If the Big XII wants to be considered seriously, they need to schedule seriously OOC. If ISU cannot compete with Georgia (designated matchup by rank order), they really shouldn't be in the CFP then.

Well if they want to schedule like the SEC, you take your top teams and schedule them against teams that have a big name, but have fallen off. So let’s schedule teams like Oklahoma, UCLA, or Florida State. They give you the brand name and typically the coaching names to give you some gravitas, but aren’t going to put up an equivalent level of fight. Alabama has been fantastic at this over the years. So the NC schedule looks impressive on the surface, but it’s not really that impressive when you dive into it.

So don’t line up 1-1, 2-2, etc. Line up teams in your favor to be able to win games and promote your record against other conferences.

This is why there is such a national media bias towards the SEC.

Exactly this. Everyone just assumes the SEC would win a game against anyone they play unless they’re going up against themselves.

It wasn’t a coincidence that BY was on the broadcast last night and that he got on ESPNs ass, too.

Using your example, I'd love to see Iowa State play the P4 OOC teams Alabama has played in the Regular Season since 2006: Duke (ACC), Florida State (ACC) @ Jax, Clemson (ACC) @ Atlanta, Virginia Tech (ACC) @ Atlanta, Penn State (B1G), @ Duke (ACC), @ Penn State (B1G), Michigan (B1G) @ Arlington, Virginia Tech (ACC) @ Atlanta, West Virginia (Big XII) @ Atlanta, Wisconsin (B1G) @ Arlington, USC (Pac-12) @ Arlington, Florida State (ACC) @ Atlanta, Louisville (ACC) @ Orlando, Duke (ACC) @ Atlanta, Miami (Fla.) (ACC) @ Atlanta, @ Texas (Big XII), Texas (Big XII), @ Wisconsin (B1G). If ISU or any other Big XII team played a varied P4 OOC schedule like that over a 19 year spean with a (17-2) record, it would definitely help the Big XII's perception.

But the point is that you need to recognize when they’re on their downturn and play them then. It seems that if you’re a fan of one of those teams and you see Alabama on your schedule, you’d better be taking stock in where your program is. Cause there’s a good chance you’re on the downside of your peak. So Alabama gets credit for playing a team like Wisconsin or South Florida even though they were a shell of what they have been in the past. But all people see are the names of the teams on their schedule to justify them playing Mercer in November.

That's not what happened. They didn't intentially schedule big name teams on the downturn just to make it look good. The only team that was super down when they scheduled them were the Duke Home and Home (scheduled during the Shula Era). Some of the teams were actually favored like Clemson in 2008 or expected to be great before Alabama broke 'em like Florida State and Miami (Fla.). They played the Penn State home and home when Paterno was still the coach, USC won the Rose Bowl the year Alabama crushed them, etc.

If ANY Big XII team had played those same 19 teams in the same years with a (17-2) record, it would have been GREAT for that program and for the Big XII. If the the Big XII wants to get more recognition, the teams need to play and beat other P4 teams OOC regularly in the Regular Season. Choose the games however one thinks best. Iowa state became ranked this year after winning @ Iowa (B1G). There was a direct correlation with that win. Imagine if the win would have been vs. ANY of those other teams (with the exception of Duke).

Next year Alabama plays @ Florida State (ACC) and Wisconsin (B1G) OOC. They both had down years this year and may or may not rebound next year (to your point), but when both games were scheduled - both teams were up (to my point), especially FSU. Not sure what happened in Tallahassee. Mon Dieu. I wish that Iowa State had games scheduled with @ Florida State and Wisconsin @ JTS (up, down or sideways) next year.

FWIW, ISU and the rest of the Big XII had a chance to schedule a home and home with the Florida Gators a few years ago. UF A.D. Strickland actually tweeted to the rest of the P5 World that Florida would play home and home with any other P5 school willing. Some schools took him up on the offer like Utah (Pac-12), but Jamie just made a condescending tweet to A.D. Strickland instead of saying, Iowa State would love to play Florida home and home. Playing the Gators home and home would have been GREAT for ISU.

I LOVE Iowa State, and I love the Big XII. They both have to fight up hill almost every single day. I'm just saying, if that is the case, go out and get some!

ASU dropped spots. But they want us to believe there isn't a narrative and that this is real.
It’s all ******** and hilarious at the same time. They are gunning for bama to get in. Everyone knows it. Any way they can, they will. I realize it doesn’t really affect us, we gotta win to get in, but it’s such a smoke and mirrors event, what’s the point anymore.
