Anthony stated he wants to be a college HC. He’s going to have to take a position job or a smaller job first. No major university is going to give the job to a guy whose only coaching experience is a couple of years in a minor league.

West Virginia could go the Hoiberg route and give Anthony a shot, but I have a feeling they're going to go for the Penn State OC from what I'm reading.

Next year is probably going to be rough regardless, may as well get the new guy some experience.
Based on... what? Exactly?

Do we lose some key people? Of course we do. However, we are a developmental program so that's not exactly earth shattering developments. And to some degree, we know Miller's back, plus Barrett+ Bonifas+Buhr+Hystart + Neal+ Maro, yeah, maybe we try to find another piece on the OL but that's not a bad foundation having 7 guys who have started and or played. Sama+Hansen are a nice duo at RB, Brahmer+Moore+Burkle all back at TE. Yes, our receiving corps takes a big hit but I like some of the other pieces and I imagine we'll try to bring someone in there let alone bringing back a 2 year starting QB.

Defensively, sure, losing JR and Peterson suck, but in theory, TO + Orange +Hawk/Synder, Jones, Ike etc. ome of the others who have played, again, not a bad foundation. LB depth, presuming everyone returns goes from being a weakness to a strength. Yes, the secodary loses some stalwarts but again, there's been some depth that had to develop there and I'm sure is a position we might address or try to but again, that depth was on display Saturday and at other points. So while it won't be the same potentially, it also shouldn't be some type of crater.

Verdon is listed as a junior but also was walking so I guess he's ready to go take his chance at the NFL? Makes sense but he is listed as a junior. Seems a long shot since he walked / participated in Senior day but if he decided to come back, obviously that'd be massive.

ST wise, everyone's back, I think in terms of kicking and looks like the starting short and long snapper is back.

So while I'm not going to sit here and say we are going to be 10-2 next year, although that would certainly be fan tastic and mroe than fine with me, at the same time, I don't think its going to be "rough".

West Virginia should hire Drake's football coach. They're doing pretty well right now with Drake's basketball coach.

Lol if they wanna go that way I'd go Chris Creighton. Yeah, Eastern Michigan missed a bowl and the record overall isn't pretty there but its freaking Eastern Michigan and the simple fact that he's taking them bowling most years anymore, again, at Eastern Michigan, is a testament to a pretty good job all things being equal

Based on the criteria Wren used to hire Devries, I'd be shocked if he gave the job to a coordinator with no head coach experience. My guess is Kotelicki? (never hire a coach you cant spell his name),.

WVU has 3 proven head coaches from the state of west virginia available. Saban, Jimbo(yes he wants the job), and RROD(yes he wants the job). It'd be stupid to hire someone who has never been a head coach.

While Saban isnt interested, (maybe, he was at a recent NIL WVU fundraiser), he's likely getting tired of having Pat M shout in his ear on gameday. I think Saban's advice will be sought at the very least.

there's just zero reason to hire JMU's coach or the like when rrod and jimbo are available.

I think the Big 12 should fear a RROD reunion the most. WVU would go from an easy out, soft team, to a kstate/isu clone. Tough, gritty, hardnosed, well coached.

Everybody within the program would be pumped if Anthony got the WV job. I said this in the yearly dumb*** Campbell to "x" thread. You all have inferiority complex issues. Rocco is not leaving regardless of his dad coaching WVU.

You think if Rocco turned down huge $ to go to big name SEC schools he's going to leave to go play for his dad at WVU? We have to get past this crap and realize we are effing here. Like this is it we are finally here after all these years of mediocrity. Embrace it, if people leave it's for $ we can't do anything about it. If you want to win and improve your draft stock we are the place to do it. Rocco ain't going anywhere regardless of Anthony and this thread is f'ing stupid.
Turning down SEC money and going to play for your Dad are two very different things, come on man.

Rich Rod or Jimbo seem like they’d get a call.

Anthony very well may be a college coach someday. In fact, I could see him on the ISU staff in some capacity once Rocco graduates. Hard to think he’d jump right into a P4 job.

I for one welcome the resurrection of the zone read.

You could be correct. Me, I can't see it. So, here we fans are, projecting onto other people what our beliefs and values are; I'm thinking we don't have much of a clue.

(Me, I'd be stunned if Rocco followed his Dad to WVU. But, who the hell knows? Any of us?)
