They are, and part of that is "Big 12 champion is below ACC champion no matter what".
Jumping Clemson over ISU/ASU is nothing to them, it'll happen for sure. BSU losing is Big 12's only chance to avoid road game.
Also BYU resume really isn't that different than a lot of these fringe teams 8-17, they aren't considered because they aren't a favorite brand like Miami and they aren't in a CCG.

If Colorado had 2 losses, it would be ranked much higher because Prime is a media darling. it isnt fair, but its the world we live in.

The 4 way tie 1st place teams are 4-1 vs non conf P4 including road wins. BYU's road win over #8 first place ACC SMU is probably a top 5 win in all of the college football season if SMU is really #8.
The more I look at it...the primary difference between AP poll and committee ranking is that Clemson can't possibly jump Big 12 in AP poll but definitely can in committee ranking. Could easily give them some "eye test" BS to jump both ISU/ASU.

It's the illegal part that you're missing. There's no law that is being violated here. These are organizational rules for picking who gets to compete for a sports championship, rules that are intentionally subjective by design. And all of the participating conferences agreed to them.
There's no case to be made for legal recourse, here, unfortunately.
I am now hoping the ACC also gets just one bid (like the Big 12). That will hopefully convince the ACC commissioner to partner with Yormark in demanding a 16-team playoff with the autobids that were discussed a few months ago: 4 for SEC, 4 for Big 10, 2 for ACC and 2 for Big 12.

It will be hard to win a game or two, starting on the road at ND or Penn St.
Plus Navy always chooses a neutral NFL stadium. They could make ND come to Annapolis if they wanted.Two of the neutral games were vs. Georgia Tech @ Falcons Stadium in ATL and Army @ Yankee Stadium in Bronx, NY. So, while technically neutral, they were road games compared to the two teams they played. Now, that loss to NIU is another matter indeed!

I think it could be illegal, but it'd be hard to prove without smoking gun evidence worse than their rankings just consistently undervaluing the Big 12 vs other rankings.
Like if there was a recording of committee members talking about how they need to keep certain teams or conferences out because the Big Ten and SEC are the only future of the sport, that'd be great evidence.
OR Iowa State can prove that the Big XII Champion is good enough to go on the road and win @ Notre Dame or @ Penn State. As distateful as the reason is for this, I do like the challenge! I think Iowa State having the opportunity to win @ Notre Dame or @ Penn State will be more powerful than winning the Fiesta Bowl vs. some random team. I have faith in the boys! Beyond that, I don't really care about the CFP one way or the other. The Big XII Championship Game is much more important to me.
I gotta believe a win on Saturday puts isu in cfp. Anything else seems inappropriate.
Notre Dame is the only program that can get away with playing just 3 road games and dodging a conference championship and it's rarely brought up. It doesn't matter how it happens, it's reality.
A program like ISU or ASU at one lose could be left out of the playoff or seeded lower for doing that and we'd have to change our entire scheduling strategy to please them like how we added a CCG after they made up the 13 data points lie in 2014.
If ISU was sitting at 1 loss to the 80th ranked team, dodged a CCG, and only played 3 road games. It wouldn't matter how dominant our 11 wins were, we'd wouldn't be ranked in the top 4. For the Big 12 it was END OF THE WORLD if one of our best teams ever only played 12 games.
You can even look at our basketball team, it was MAJOR NEWS that we played bad non conf last year, even though our overall SOS was #22 out of 360ish teams.
You guys need to stop caring about what the corrupt committee thinks
This all becomes easier to understand when you remind yourself that the people who own this little post-season football tournament actively tried to kill this conference and relegate most of its teams to the American Conference.
