Talent definitely matters to success until the team drops some games and then the media screams "bUT tHeir tAlent" and then they place them over teams with less losses because the "talented" team would win in a hypothetical game.

And the recruiting rankings are extremely flawed as well when you have a guy who gets bumped to a high 4 star after receiving a single offer from a top tier team.
Agreed. We jokingly called it the “Michigan Bump” for years. Guys would rise just do to interest not a change in ability

I’m okay with where ISU is in the playoff rankings right now. Our schedule has been soft and our best wins are against 3 8-4 teams. Good wins, not great. But if we beat a top 15 ASU team, it adds a signature win that many teams like SMU, Indiana, Texas, ND, and others don’t have and it would be a joke if Boise, along with several of those at-large teams jump ISU (which they will).

I still have hope that the committee will see this in their final rankings - if they don’t, it’s a really bad precedent to set.
I keep reading about precedent with regard to the CFP committee. They don't give two ***** about precedent. They will talk out the other side of their mouths next year if they have to to get the "right" teams in.

Has any national or local media reporter acknowledged that a UNLV win on Friday and a Cyclone win on Saturday will result in us having a bye?
UNLV actually has wins @ Houston, @ Kansas and @ Oregon State! Two Big XII teams including the Wicked Witch of Kansas + a former Pac-12 team. They are close enough in the rankings that I wouldn't be shocked if they jumped the Rebels over the Big XII Champ. Ugh!

SCar lost to both Bama and Ole Miss. Of those three SEC teams, whom are all essentially tied, they unfortunately have to be out for that reason alone.
And while Ole Miss may be prettier, Alabama has bigger tits! :) Seriously, they all three should be out. BYU deserves the last spot.

Sucks enough for Iowa State, but imagine how cranky Sparky will be if ASU wins the Big XII and has to play @ Penn State instead of the Fiesta Bowl - which was actually created as a Bowl Game to showcase Ariz. State back when they were in the WAC before they moved to the Pac.

“The Cougars are getting shoved down to #18 for seemingly no reason”

Oh, we all know the committee’s reason, it starts with “Big” and ends with “XII”

It’s like I was telling somebody else, BYU should be in the discussion for a playoff spot, right there with SMU (if they lose), Alabama, Ole Miss, and Miami … but they’ve been pushed so far down by the committee nobody is even thinking about them.
