Just got back.

Wow. What a fun game!

Great crowd. Really, REALLY annoying Marquette female fans in section 232. Just absolutely obnoxious and borderline disrespectful, even shouting Marquette’s fight song during the ISU fight song. Was really satisfying beating them!

Uniforms are perfect. My goodness. I need a game quality #51 jersey now. I’ll pay anything. Gilbert making a case for an all-timer type Cyclone season. The dude just tries SO hard. Really proud that he’s a Cyclone.

I was bummed to see us give up so many wide open 3’s, so many tip-outs and missed rebounds, and that big run from Marquette - but credit to them, they are a good team. Credit to TJ and this squad - the final blow we delivered was elite. Gilbert, Jefferson, and Curtis were elite. Others were great. Not worried about Tamin or Milan. What a DEEP team we have!

That was a nice little game. It felt like we were the better team and we expected to take care of business. Then they went on the 10-0 run to tie it with Kam Jones heating up - TJ calls the timeout, puts Heise on Kam and we go on a huge run that puts the game away.

Some thoughts:
- Marquette's bench - specifically Owens and Parham - played infinitely better than they had all season
- Jefferson showed a glimpse of why I think he's going to be a star next year. A quality double-double
- Heise was tremendous in the second half - that's what TJ brought him in to do
- Chatfield was really good spelling Jackson - I thought this would be a horrible matchup for him, but he was solid
- In some ways it seems like we blinked in Maui and this went from Tamin's team to Keshon's team. The man is on a mission and an absolute beast

Hmmmm
CW not concerned about Lipsey at all, says he might be a bit out of shape from taking the summer off. Said he looked better and more healthy tonight compared to Maui.

Lipsey had 1 point and the Clones scored 81 against a Top 5 team.

My take is Lipsey doesn't need to take shots for ISU to be a high powered offense. He just needs to be an efficient scorer in most games. As long as he is a floor general and defends he's solid.

I have to say that was one of the better officiated games we've played for an intense game. Both teams really got after it, the official let them play but pretty equally and they did call the fouls they needed to keep the game under control. Even the few times our fans went nuts like the one late whistle Chat's blocking foul...it was the obvious right call each of those times.

Even when they went on the 10-0 run I can't remember any point in the game thinking the officials were having a huge impact.

Gilbert is becoming a guy you just cannot foul. His last few games from the line
7-7
4-4
12-14
6-7
That's 91% at a really high volume at the line.

I agree on officiating. That was an elite game of basketball in Hilton Coliseum tonight. Both teams + staffs and the refs were all on it, extremely professional. I have zero officiating complaints. That is rare!

It's not common when two teams play defense that hard to think the officials got the balance of "let them play" right without losing control of the game, the game never got ugly even with the defensive intensity. At times Marquette was getting after it just as hard as we typically do.

We're a couple games away from teams dropping off Lipsey at the 3pt line like his freshman year. At least this team has so many more scoring options than 2022

Well it was a solid win, nice grit by the guys after Marquette got back into it. Holy cow how did those refs go from being decent in the 1st half to TERRIBLE n the 2nd.
Really great attendance tonight, students and the public both showed out. White out was a success.
Shaka needs to let some one else dress him, he is way to old to be wearing those ugly ass skinny jeans, plus screw him and the way he drug the game out when it was over.

He doesn't seem to have much functionality once his right arm gets too far above his shoulder.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but ESPN hasn't shown any highlights from the 5 vs 6 game. Van Pelt show, followed by Sports Center.

We have what appears to be two elite 3pt shooters in CuJo and Milan (both of whom can shoot over some shorter players) and a bunch of other guys who can hit them on occasion. It's a really different situation. There were years there where I'm not sure how we even assembled a team of D1 players with so few 3pt shooters. Even as green as he is, we could have used Nojus on those teams just to have someone who could hit a 3.

Im going to use a cross-sports analogy, which I hate, but I’m still going to use it.

Right now, he’s like a Gold Glove Shortstop or Centerfielder with Plus Speed and a Plus Arm that hits .206.

You can certainly get by with that but at some point, he’s gonna be up with the bases loaded and the game on the line.

He doesn’t need a home run. Just a walk or a single.

I think he can get on base when the time comes.

Not much coverage. It's all about KU losing and Auburn V. Duke.
