Ah, thanks - there was a graphic, I think on ESPN last night, that showed them 13-1. That didn't make any senseKansas is 7-1...

Heise is probably 8th-ish in rotation. He had a great game last night. This year's team is DEEP..... that will help tremendously when foul trouble becomes a factor, not to mention other advantages that come with a loaded roster.
Nojus is a stud, even as a freshman, and if Tamin has to miss some minutes, it'll let him definitely shine. This year's team is DEEP..... that will help tremendously when foul trouble becomes a factor, not to mention other advantages that come with a loaded roster.
And in conference play later in the year. Keep fresh legs and we can go far. This year's team is DEEP..... that will help tremendously when foul trouble becomes a factor, not to mention other advantages that come with a loaded roster.
I ABSOLUTELY noticed that at the under 8 timeout. They came out with soft legs in transition.I'm wondering if the staff saw some trends on Cam Jones of him picking a moment lateish in games to start to take over and then input the plan into making the switch.
And MU's staff may have underestimated Heise's ability to guard and disrupt; I don't recall him being put in that role in Maui or it wasn't highlighted as much.
It helped that overall ISU seemed to press the perimeter a bit more as the 2nd half wore on.
I think MU also got tired after their burst.
I thought Gilbert definitely had that star quality/closer mentality the second half of last season. The difference this season is that Lipsey has been a zero pretty much shockingly so Gilbert has had to take on more of a scoring load.I don't see it as being carried by Gilbert as much as he is just establishing himself as a go to star. Last year our team could have really used a closer/go to guy. I think Jones and Gilbert both started becoming that towards tourney time. Now it feels like we have that guy. Jones is ahead of last year and just a step behind Gilbert. I'm confident that Momcilovic will still be there, then we are seeing Jefferson step up while also seeing Heise's potential.
What a luxury to have your 8th man play defense like Heise. Add in he went 3/3 from the floor. Look out!Heise is probably 8th-ish in rotation. He had a great game last night.
There were a couple times last night where he passed up an open 3 to drive to the basket. Part of his growth will be learning when to shoot, when to drive and pull up, when to drive all the way. One play in the second half particularly, he passed up the 3, drove, passed up the wide open elbow jumper, and continued into the teeth of their bigs, missing the shot from the blockSome understandable growing pains, but his time is coming.

You can see that Otz is able to match up this season with his roster. Heise played 21 minutes and matched up perfectly against Marquette. Conversely, Momcilovic on played 17 minutes. Nice to have quality depth.
He needs to shoot more. He's not a good defender. He's not a great passer. He's not a great off the dribble. He's not great driving to the rack. This isn’t a knock on him but what’s been with Milan this year? He’s had a couple really good games and then he disappears. I was really hoping he would come out firing this year and that really hasn’t been the case. We need him to get going a bit.
Van Pelt’s show after Duke-Auburn had lengthy highlights of our game.
ESPN sucks, and it really sucks our game was on ESPN+, but I'm also tired of our fans' victim mentality where it's to the point where we're making **** up.
Could coverage have been better and more extensive? Sure. But the making **** up to feed the narrative makes us look like whiny losers.
I watched Van Pelt and Sports Center after the Auburn-Duke game, butIt was the third game with highlights on the Van Pelt show...
It was, I want to go back and watch those 5-6 minutes, he just shut him down.Heise played FANTASTIC defense on Kam the final minutes. Swung the game
My guess is that the coaches have challenged him to be more multi-faceted in his game this year. They want him to shoot more, but they want him to be more than a catch and shoot guy. I think he's been challenged to take his defenders off the bounce and score at all 3 levels. And he's still learning how. This isn’t a knock on him but what’s been with Milan this year? He lacks defense, that's about it. If you don't necessarily need his scoring and Heise can come in and give you more defensively, you do it.This isn’t a knock on him but what’s been with Milan this year?
