I like the matchup, but What's the deal with us playing "nearly" (or actual) home games for the other team in bowl games?

Playing Memphis in Memphis (twice)
Playing Boise in Boise
Playing TCU in Houston (~4 hours away)
Playing Rutgers in Yankee Stadium (~2 hours away)
Playing Tulsa in Memphis (~5 hours away)
Playing Alabama in Shreveport (this is more of a stretch, ~ 6 hours away)
Playing Miami in Orlando (~ 4 hours away)

Any others?

(oh, and I believe 6 of those 7 were losses :( )

Bumping myself here. We lost 6 of the 7 "close for the opponent games" with one still TBD.

How many bowl games have we EVER won???

I can think of the one in 2000 (was that Insight.com?) vs. Pitt under Mac
Independence Bowl circa 2005 vs. Miami of Ohio
Rhodes' first year vs. Minnesota (I think this was also Insight???)
Fiesta under CMC

Is that it??? Only 4??? :(

In 2005 we lost the Houston Bowl to TCU.

Is the Rosen Shingle Creek, the team hotel for the Pop Tarts Bowl? Last time it was the Hilton Orlando, but everything I can see is showing the Rosen as the Iowa State hotel.

CBS ranked the Pop-Tarts Bowl right about where it should be:

#7 - Pop-Tarts Bowl

The Bowls ahead of it:

#6 - Peach Bowl (CFP quarterfinal)
#5 - Fiesta Bowl (CFP quarterfinal)
#4 - Rose Bowl (CFP quarterfinal)
#3 - Sugar Bowl (CFP quarterfinal)
#1-2 - Orange & Cotton Bowls (CFP semifinals)

Yeah. I want more trophies. The bowls aren’t meaningless to seniors suiting up for the last time who want to bring home some hardware.

I'm not much for the "Better to have loved and lost..." BS when it come to bowl games. Sucks to go out on a losing note especially when we look out-manned and ill prepared. Coach to win and play to win. But you can't win them all, ask Colorado whose bowl record dating back to ISU's first bowl victory over Pitt (2000)...

I actually love Orlando. I take my family once a year. Spend a day at universal, EPCOT and Kennedy Space Center.
Same, although I will say, you need an extra level of patience with crowds and people at the holidays. It's a whole different level of bonkers.
