I'll be front row behind the richest people at the north end. Like to kick a little howk ass this time. We were up by 6 against the greatest wbb player ever to grace the basketball court and their heads were going. Hope we stick it to them this time. REBOUND!
We were up by 6, and that was without our starting senior point guard.

Pretty good Cy-Hawk game preview from Hawk perspective on 247. Talks Hawk turnovers, go to players, Cyclone defensive rebounding strength, paint battle etc. They pick the Hawks but the analysis is quite good IMHO, no coach speak cookie cutter stuff.

Thanks for the share. TBF I also predict a Hawkeye win.

I am leaning slightly ISU in spite of our eight game losing streak in Carver but not going to make any prediction. Hawks have had too much trouble handling the ball (although we are not likely to be forcing them into TO's like some other teams) and they've been pretty sub-par for a Hawk team in shooting the three. They need someone other than Olsen and the post gals to step up.

Seems to me the Hawks are still trying to "find themselves" without CC and all of those seniors. It's a big adjustment from running TD routes with a star QB and to playing a more moderate paced game (not like they don't "go" just not like the last few seasons). O'Grady has been very good but the guards supporting Olsen seem to be struggling. Pre-season I might have thought the Hawks would be decent in the paint but was thinking Stuelke/Heiden and not Stuelke/O'Grady. Been a lot of pressure on Sydney Affolter coming off of a knee procedure to be the new Martin and so far she has not been able to do that.

Good test for both teams but not like it's a make or break for either heading into conference play. Maybe a bigger need for Iowa to get a quality win, they will be playing more ranked teams than we will come conference play. We are in the middle of a three game challenge for the Hawks, Tennessee/ISU/Michigan State and this is the only one at Carver.

Wildcard, that sellout crowd that has hardly seen their team in person this season. Other than the upcoming UConn game we wont see anything like that this season on the road. Okay, technically UConn is a "neutral" site LOL.

High quality post.

I haven't gotten the chance to watch the Hawks play this year, so this is a nice refresher.

If they are playing O'Grady like a true post, I like Crooks in this matchup. She excels when teams try to get her one on one.

I'm right there with you on this. ISU is definitely capable of winning the game. If Ryan and AJ are pests on defense, if our players (especially Brown) are hitting from deep, and if Audi get's their posts in foul trouble..I like our chances. On the other hand, if Iowa suddenly becomes a 50% 3 point shooting team we are in trouble. Perhaps the critical piece is going to be ISU's ability to play defense without fouling AND hitting our free throws when we get the opportunities.

No, it's not a thing. Iowa does not flop nor are they a physical team that is going to beat up or hack people.

Not saying that how the game is called won't impact Crooks but she has to be smart about it. She gets away with as much as she gets called for so it's a 2-way street in wanting it to be called tight against her but not called tight on her. As much as Cyclone fans like to complain, she is not a dainty little girl who dances into the paint and is then accosted by the big mean brutish posts on other teams.

Iowa may have some fouls to give between O'Grady and their rookie post Heiden so I won't be supposed to see them foul her rather than give her easy baskets with her shooting 65% from the line. Not really the same Iowa team but Crooks did get to the line 8 times in 24 minutes last year and only had one foul. In that Cy-Hawk game Iowa's Goodman got the bulk of the Iowa post minutes and Stuelke (IIRC) was coming off an ankle injury so the head-to-head comparison from last year is sort of absent. We played about 10 minutes of that game with no post in the game, just Diew.

This is not good news, but at least she'll be able to get a medical hardship. That's why this happened now: she's at the 10-game limit given our 32-game schedule, so she can't play in the Iowa game and get an extra year.

Well, that sucks for this season but will be good for next year and best for her not to try to keep playing through it. Seems like they hit that 10 game limit and had to make a tough joint decision.

They mention exhausting "conservative" measures. Wonder if there is a surgical option now that she is sitting out?

Coach in the post game said she would have surgery. I wondered if the hit she took towards the end of our last game where she hit the floor could have been an issue.

Thanks for the info, I never much listen to post games and appreciate any tidbit of real info that others pick up from them.

I would guess with this being an ongoing injury going back to last season that a bump isn't anything contributing. Maybe more like the issues Naz Mitrou-Long had when he had surgery on both hips following his JR year. He tried to play his senior year but opted out after 8 games to rehab and redshirt. So, he redshirted to rehab and she will redshirt to surgery/rehab. Hoping she has enough time to fully rehab. Crazy part for Naz is he had surgery on BOTH hips.

After having a rotator cuff repaired (college sports injury) I’ve always said we are so fortunate today we have doctors that can fix these things.

Why does ISU always have to play a pissed off top team right after they take a loss?

LOL. Was thinking the same thing. Kept peeking into that game. ND has beaten three different top 10 teams (USC, Texas, UConn). I get some of those were at home but still, man, they are playing some ball.

And who is a better college player than Hannah Hidalgo? Answer: Nobody.
