Look…I want Gilbert on my team any day of the week, but I’m not having a cow with Sandfort being ranked higher in something like this.

Sandfort showed me last year that he can be VERY hard to defend. He’s 6’8” 215 and shoots the **** out of the ball. Has better handles than people will give him credit for too. I’m not saying he can run the point for ya, but a fast break opportunity isn’t going to slow down if the ball is in his hands. Remember, Kyle Korver (6’7” 212) made a hell of a living in the league.

When I'm wrong I'll admit it. Sandfort really showed me something tonight.

I don’t think Sandfort was as close as the media was saying to making an NBA squad last off season

I believe KCRG has yet to post a story about ISU beating Iowa in basketball in 2021.

Par for the course.

They made their last three pointer at 11:54 to go up 62-53. Down the stretch, Dix 0-4, Sandfort 0-3, Thelwell 0-1
In the first half, Iowa shot 59% from the field and 54% from deep. They finished (for the game…not just the second half) shooting 44% from the field and 39% from the three point line.

Statistically speaking, that equates to a horrendous second half for them. I don’t know how many of Heise’s 24 minutes were in the second half, but it had to be quite a bit.

I said it once (twice? Or with this post is it three times?), Heise is good. He’s a difference maker. Instinctive hands and has shown he can shut All-Americans down (Kam Jones).

Yet haven't admitted you were at least a little wrong on Sandfort lol..

The kid is a G league player fringe NBA player at best. Very good but not great shooter, and if he makes it, he will have to improve his percentage of shot making. Right now he is a volume guy, takes a lot of shots to get his points, that type of play will not keep him in the NBA.

EIU last night played their A+ game for the first half, that was the best they have played all season, and then they reverted back to their norm in the 2nd half. Still ended up making right at their season average in 3 pointers for a game at 10, they just go 9 of them in the first half.

I think he is a great shooter if he takes good shots. He takes too many bad shots.

I knew we were going to win when they couldn’t stretch the lead out any further than around 11 and they were hitting everything. That’s like a 3 point lead in the Big 12.

1st half was essentially a perfect half for Iowa, offensively and defensively. And Iowa State was only down 7 at half. Other Iowa State teams are likely down ~20.

Obvious Iowa is unable sustain that level of effort for a full a game, much less multiple games. Momentum kept tilting towards Iowa State as the 2nd half wore on.

Edit: I still don't know why our guards don't get calls in the paint. Frustrating watching them play through contact while we were getting called for the same contact on the other end.
