It's not that he can't get talent, he just pays 3 times what it's worth. Then, he can't keep them happy.
I just don't see how the chemistry of a team at this level is going to be good when a few of the players are getting paid big money and the rest are not. I suppose some can pull it off with the right group, but I'd guess it causes problems more often than not.

KState really needs this win tonight.
They are looking at a bad March announcement.

You think Tang is lasting til March for his AD to make an announcement? Drake should be able to handle this KSU team. Their team play has been impressive. KSU’s has not.

Yeah he makes it till March. His new contract is like a year old. He'll probably be there next year too.

He can spot, and get talent. But he doesn't seem to give any thought into how that talent fits with their program, system or culture. Like, "give me the best talent we can find and I'll make it work" but he doesn't have the coaching chops to make it work each year. Their team last year was loaded with talent, and had zero chemistry.

I think it's going to be harder and harder for schools to just discard a coach...its very expensive. You also can't just shorten the contract length either. Players want to know their coach isn't on the chopping block.

Plus it’s a huge rebuild when a coach leaves. One benefit IMO of the transfer portal is schools can’t have such a knee jerk reaction to one subpar season from a coach.

It’s that he makes a point of the Bible in every..single..interview or situation. We get it, he is religious and that’s fine but if I am a fan or booster and we aren’t winning. I’d want some actual talk of the team rather than get quoted scripture.

Prohm got away with it, even while losing, because he was a ridiculously nice guy so it came off as sincere.

Tang is obviously a giant vindictive a-hole and he seems like a con man selling magic beans to rubes every time he breaks it out.

And? Who's to say that the most upstanding citizen in the Little Apple is not in fact an *******? Seems consistent with their fanbase.
While there may be a lot of fans on Facebook who like him, there are also a lot of EMAW fans on Twitter who are hoping he steps on his **** enough that the AD has enough to release him for cause. It's not all rainbows and unicorns in the little apple.

Disagree. Its not that hard to rebuild in bball. Just need a couple guys to have a competitive team. Of course, you have to hire a good coach.

TJ was +20 wins in year 1 vs prior year. And that was with an entirely new group of guys - I don't think they returned 1 point of production from prior season.

That's an outlier of course, but just saying its WAAY more possible to make a competitive team in bball from scratch than say, football where you have ~dozen assistant coaches, and 100 guys all to wrangle.

Babe wake up a new Tang sound bite just dropped.

Not trying to cave this but go be a pastor not a basketball coach if these are the answers you give. I’d pull all donations if I am a K State booster or fan. Every month is a new drama story.

This is an example of what not to do when addressing literally any tension

My K-State friends are not happy with Tang. He was their idol not even a year ago. They have flipped quite rapidly on him.
When Prohm was fizzling out I thought he'd be a good candidate here because it seemed like he was getting dudes to Waco.

Now if you look at him he looks like a basketball version of Chizik but really weird.

Don't disagree with what you've said, but TJ took Iowa State from a 2-22 team to the Sweet 16 in one season (extreme example, I know), so rebuilding a team can happen A LOT quicker in basketball, especially in the NIL/portal era.

The one thing in which Iowa State seems to excel is culture (for both basketball and football). In this wild west pay for play environment that we're now in, I think culture becomes even more important. I'd say that's Iowa State's secret weapon right now.
