I'm not a front runner fan, but Holy **** I get Ohio St, Penn St, Notre Dame and Texas thinking "Are you effing kidding me that Boise freaking State got a first round bye".
As Yormark has said, “we’re open for business.” If they really think another conference is that much easier a path, well “Team A, come on down. You are the next contestant in the Big 12.” If you look at the losses those “Fromt runners” took, they probably would have happed in the Big 12 too. Hell, Norte Dame already lost to a ****** G5 team, but everyone keeps forgetting that for some reason.

Three of them had the option of winning their conference.

The other could join one.
They will just have to play for the res
BYU who couldn’t even make their conference championship game? This won’t make the old guy yelling about unearned advantages for lesser teams happy.

Maybe. I bet the MWC would listen if their ADs wanted to talk. That’s an option.
Let's do that then. Conference Champs only in the playoffs. Maybe include the MVC champ and Ohio Valley champ and maybe Wartburg as they have a punchers chance. Sounds perfect.

This is a pretty scrawny strawman.

The current system allots byes to the top 4 rated conference champions and a spot for the fifth.

The comitttee was free to rate Clemson above BSU. That would have been odd given their resumes.

The highest rated teams that couldn’t win their conference got ******* home games in the first round.

What bothers you so much about this system?

So you think that Texas or Ohio St or Notre Dame or Penn St wouldn't win the Big West this year pretty easily? Honest question. We lost to a G5 team in 2020. Pretty good season overall anyway.

If they had they wouldn’t be in the CFP. But they are in the CFP and all of them got home field advantage in the first round.

Personally I think they were better off not being in the Big West.
