Yeah it all felt so “underdog doesn’t really know what he’s doing” with that call, with the whole vibe of the play. They showed blitz sloppily, like they were nervous to even do it in the first place, they watched Ewers calmly/clearly audible both the protection and play call, and then they nervously still blitzed anyway, when it was very clear Texas was waiting for it. And the defensive backs just lazily watched WR’s run right past them. Of the ENTIRE game - that was the “most poor” execution play of either team. It was a complete brain freeze on the entire ASU defense. Their fans will replay that play in their heads for decades. Just absolutely cannot casually give up a very easy TOUCHDOWN on that play. Goodness. Really disappointing.
ASU should have called a TO when they saw the lineup that UT was throwing out there. I think their coach got caught up in the moment, and thought, "I am going to bring the house and make it throw it early," but UT picked it up and allowed Ewers to slide to his right, buy time and make a perfect pass. Guy will be kicking himself about that call for a long time.

He would get fired because he can’t beat beat Michigan, chip kelly legit left a high paying HC job to become a coordinator. Those players being paid are what allow you to sleep walk to 40 point wins. OSU also hasn’t fired a coach in decades, tressel was forced out by the scandal that is now legal.

It’s probably the best coaching job in the country and I hate OSU
OSU is not firing Day because he cannot beat Michigan, that is crazy talk. Harbaugh heard the same thing but in reverse. Did it cost him his job? Day has a very good chance of winning the title this season, they are hammering Oregon, they will play UT next, and they have better talent then UT. I would guess at worst they get to the finals, then it comes down to execution and making plays.

Harbaugh was 100% getting fired and was saved having the 2020 game being cancelled which was the best thing that could have happened.

It’s top 5. ND is better and several SEC jobs are better because of the postseason perks of being in the SEC and the PR ESPN does on their behalf.
ND isn’t better since they don’t actually win anything. If you think OSU isn’t getting the same perks as SEC teams you haven’t been paying attention

In a 30 year period, four consecutive coaches were fired by Ohio State (Hayes, Bruce, Cooper and Tressel). I think Urban Meyer is the only Ohio State coach to quit on his own terms since Wes Fesler quit in 1950 after three years “because there was too much pressure to win at Ohio State.”

Did they fire him or did he walk away to the NFL? Without a doubt Harbugh like Day is under pressure from the fan base about losing the GAME, but pressure and forcing him out or two totally different things.

He was going to get fired if he lost that game that was cancelled, he was already forced to take a pay cut before. Trust me alums were furious that he couldn’t beat OSU and MSU and then he went on a tear and turned things around post covid

ND seems like a place with plenty of talent but also needs the right fit at head coach to keep things going and are just one bad hire away from being a 7ish win program.

tOSU feels like the reigns just get handed over and you can trip on 10 wins.

Tressel was fired for the tattoo scandal not due to performance. You have to go back 25 years to the last coach that was fired for performance at OSU which was cooper and he is the only head coach since 1950 to not win a big ten title at OSU

That's exactly why tOSU fired John Cooper. I lived in Columbus, OH for 3 years after graduating college and I can tell you the Michigan game is all they care about. During week 1 of the season, all the local TV ads you saw were about the Michigan game, the last game of the season. It's 100% not crazy talk to say Day could be fired solely because of his record v. Michigan. I've seen it happen.

Winning a natty would keep him around obv which is the main reason I’m ok with OSU winning out

Maybe he would have won the game, i get people were complaining, but firing him is totally different from rewriting his contract if he had lost again in that game. Hell everyone of those alum that were ******** then would love to have him there coaching today. Winning has a tendancy to do that to a fan base, if OSU wins it this year, Day's record against Michigan will not matter.

How much time have you spent with tOSU fans, alumni, donors, or in Columbus? I worked in sports media, in Columbus, OH, and saw it happen to John Cooper for going 2-10 v. Michigan. You have no idea what you're talking about. These people are certifiably nuts when it comes to Michigan.
