The game was lost on the 4th and 13 in the first OT. An all out blitz is fine, but they showed it too soon. Ewers appeared to audible out of the play from scrimmage. Maybe I’m too use to Iowa State’s secondary, but I would rather have taken my chances dropping back and playing defense knowing they have to get 13 yards just to continue the game.
I don't mind blitzing there, but he brought everyone, instead of just 5 or 6, and it left the middle of the field wide open, and UT did a great job of picking it up, giving Ewers time to find the guy right down the middle.

Yeah it all felt so “underdog doesn’t really know what he’s doing” with that call, with the whole vibe of the play. They showed blitz sloppily, like they were nervous to even do it in the first place, they watched Ewers calmly/clearly audible both the protection and play call, and then they nervously still blitzed anyway, when it was very clear Texas was waiting for it. And the defensive backs just lazily watched WR’s run right past them. Of the ENTIRE game - that was the “most poor” execution play of either team. It was a complete brain freeze on the entire ASU defense. Their fans will replay that play in their heads for decades. Just absolutely cannot casually give up a very easy TOUCHDOWN on that play. Goodness. Really disappointing.

You can’t target but if the ball is in the air, you are taught to hit the receiver so he can’t catch it if you don’t think you have a shot at it. Once it’s tipped they are no longer a receiver.

The easiest example is, can a QB throw a forward pass to themselves with no one touching it? No. Has to touch someone else.
Try laying a QB out after a tipped ball. Targeting has nothing to do with the ball being tipped. PI doesn’t count, you can certainly drag a guy down, but if targeting is in the best interest of safety and not money, that is still targeting.

Imagine making the CFP and getting fired for how you performed in the CFP. Most of the players make more than your assistants. Your coordinators bail the second a HC job opens up. Who would want that job?
He would get fired because he can’t beat beat Michigan, chip kelly legit left a high paying HC job to become a coordinator. Those players being paid are what allow you to sleep walk to 40 point wins. OSU also hasn’t fired a coach in decades, tressel was forced out by the scandal that is now legal.

It’s probably the best coaching job in the country and I hate OSU

It’s top 5. ND is better and several SEC jobs are better because of the postseason perks of being in the SEC and the PR ESPN does on their behalf.
