I don't think them blitzing was the reason Texas scored. Safety lost track of their best WR. I'd rather blitz a guy and not let the QB have all day in the pocket.
ASU showed the blitz way too early. Sent the house and no one got close to the QB. Aggressive call, but it backfired.

The crown thing doesn't matter in the case of a defenseless receiver. The exact text of the rule is:

(1) A player takes aim at an opponent for the purposes of attacking with forcible contact with the crown of the helmet.

or

(2) A player takes aim at a defenseless opponent for the purposes of attacking with forcible contact to the head or neck area.

They would have had the ball at the 35 with a minute to go. They either score a touchdown or end up with a chip shot field goal to win the game.

But we'll never know what would have happened because it was stolen from them. I hate the SEC, Big 10, and ESPN.
35 with a minute could have been two hand offs and a 50 yard kick which is NOT a chip shot.

And their special teams had an atrocious day.

Two things, not the crown, it was the forehead.

Second, I don’t know if the defenseless receiver was erased because the ball looked to be tipped. I could be wrong with that though.

On the first live view I didn't think it was crown, on the second two it's the crown. It's also helmet to helmet on defenseless receiver so I don't think it matters.

If it's not targeting then 90% of targeting calls I've seen should never have been call and Iowa State might even have had a few extra wins.

The other thing ASU just proved is that Auto-bids are fine. The 12 team format is fine. These byes are the only thing keeping the conference championship games relevant in the BIG and SEC

The people with gripes need to shut up and win their games. Don’t like the bye? Win your games. Think you deserve a bid with 3 losses? WIN YOUR GAMES

The Big 12 is showing out in the post season.

Even with the ASU loss they showed they belonged on the field with almighty Texas.

Like Kansas used to and ISU used to and KSU used to.....

The game was lost on the 4th and 13 in the first OT. An all out blitz is fine, but they showed it too soon. Ewers appeared to audible out of the play from scrimmage. Maybe I’m too use to Iowa State’s secondary, but I would rather have taken my chances dropping back and playing defense knowing they have to get 13 yards just to continue the game.

Maybe. Texas could have tackled them for a loss or ASU gets a penalty. We will never know.

Yeah, the rigged replay...it's replay, not live so it's rigged when they purposefully get it that wrong...cost them probably a 30% chance to win the game as bad as their FG kicking is.

Not nothing, but not a sure thing.

The same call was erased in ISU games. The crown is head down, this wasn’t the top of the head. It was the forehead just above the facemask. So crown would not be the call.

Not a fan of Oregon's unis. Don't mix the old school duck jerseys with the new school chrome helmets/wings. Not a good look.
