I don't think you would want to do it in season. There can be complications. I had a friend who got it and his vision was blurry in one eye for several weeks. He said it's not common but it happens to some people and it can take a month to fully recover.

Yes, this makes the most sense. They will wait until the off-season.

When I was thinking about this, I felt like they could have done it during x-mas break, having a week or two off, but it wasn't announced until recently. With a competitive athlete, they will wait until after the season.
