Didn’t watch one minute of the CFP. I really don’t care which schools have bigger donors. This Mini NFL model with no rules or regulations will be the same few teams every year. Yuck

As I’ve said before. Look at college wrestling for what the future will be. One conference dropped huge amounts of money into the sport and took it over. Now, I just watch the conference matches and tournaments and skip the nationals for the most part.

It’ll be the same with football. The season ends on conference championship weekend. I have no interest in watching games outside the Big12. College football will become a regional sport again for any fans outside of the P2.

FWIW I’d not watched a single minute of the4 team playoff and I watched far more of the games this year. Think ratings are going to be favorable towards the 12 team model.

Agree with you on the suck of the P2 aspect though.

That 4th place finish is a joke. Unbalanced schedules are dumb.
Yes, they are. But they’re what we’ve got. $$$$$$$

And if bloated conferences and unbalanced schedules result in a 4th-place B1G team being national champion, maybe we should forget the whole idea of conference standings and tiebreakers and all the rest. They’re meaningless, after all. Just throw everybody’s season records into a hat and let the committee pick who they want, based on name and reputation, mostly … oh, wait? We have that now? Except for the conference standings thing, that we still have?

And the funny thing is, if we went back to and/or realigned into seven 10 team conferences, even more $$$$$ could be made with round robin scheduling, no CCGs and a 16-team playoff where the 7 conference champs gets auto bids and host first round games and you have 9 at-large teams with the highest seeded at-large team also hosting a first round game.

Problem is that ESPN and Fox don't want other networks like Amazon getting into the CFP space so that regular season and CFP rights can be bid out NFL style. So ESPN/Fox will continue to manipulate and destroy conferences as they see fit.

Think Herbstreit was emotional as a Dad - He has a son on the team (who had to medically retire).
Maybe so. You wonder if Herby doesn't have some personality issues. The whole dog thing kind of makes me wonder.

Maybe I need to give him the benefit of the doubt

The three teams that have largely dominated CFB in the last 15 years. 1 team didn’t make it and the other two lost their first games they played.

The last two seasons have been a high point in a sport that historically has had very little parity

The blue bloods will always have an advantage over other P4 schools, and bring lowest in wealth still a major challenge. It still helps to be located near recruits.

But player mobility and compensation has made it much more a free market.

Schools can now offer PT and the corresponding compensating wage to lure from schools previously “above” them in brand, allowing only the wealthiest of the blue bloods to be so elite

I would argue that NIL and the transfer portal have helped even out the competition a bit. There are still some cases of it at the high end (Ohio State), but not as pronounced.

Herbstreit is crying. Herby they had a 20 million roster, it's not like Cinderella won this game

And being an OSU fan you know they have won a few already.

Nauseating
I watched the ND version of the game. The color guy was so pissed that they kicked the field goal that doinked. I just cannot tolerate Herbstreit no matter who is playing but letting him call the main broadcast plus all the other OSU games is just gross

He's an asshat.
Am I the only one that doesn’t even notice the broadcast booth during games? It’s basically background noise to me unless it’s a huge play and the play by play guy or gal makes it a big moment.

Kirk said some dumbs things reacting to the playoff and outcomes but I hardly notice him during an actual game and if I do he never says anything outlandish, imo. Maybe I am the odd one.

Not having to sit out a year when you transfer has really helped even it out more. The top schools can't stockpile talent as easy. The NIL is going to benefit the schools with the most money and as years go by and the P2 schools are receiving millions more every year just off their media contract those conferences will have big advantages.

If you have children or you have a dog or cat that you love like a child (a lot of people do) then you would understand the emotion.
