As I see it, our. Biggest resume problem is just not having a big win in our column. We've beaten everyone (except UNI) that we were supposed to beat.
Our biggest resume issues aren't about who we've lost to or the games we did win. They are about the fact we've beaten nobody of consequence.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AT-LARGE NCAA WBB SELECTIONS IN 2021-2024 (FOUR SEASONS) WITH:

ZERO QUAD 1 VICTORIES:

  1. #57 Columbia 2024 (12-seed play-in): 0-4 Q1
ONE QUAD 1 VICTORY:
  1. #33 Georgia 2023 (10-seed): 1-9 Q1
TWO QUAD 1 VICTORIES:
  1. #40 Marquette 2024 (10-seed): 2-6 Q1
  2. #58 DePaul 2022 (11-seed play-in): 2-8 Q1
  3. three teams in 2021 who all played no more than 23 games overall due to COVID cancellations
Side note: There is no way that Columbia team should have made the tournament last year. I do not know what the committee was smoking. They were only 5-3 in Quad 2.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ISU WBB SITUATION

QUAD 1

We are 0-5 in Quad 1. We have four chances to pick up a Quad 1 victory (prior to the B12T):
  • @ #7 KSU
  • v. #10 TCU
  • @ #24 Baylor
  • v. #7 KSU
I sincerely think we need to win two of those four games to have a shot at an at-large selection, and even then it is iffy.

QUAD 2

We are 2-1 in Quad 2.
  • win @ #60 Arizona (middle-of-the-road; Q2 road games are between #46 and #80)
  • win (neutral) vs. #58 MTSU (very marginal; Q2 neutral games are between #36 and #65)
  • loss vs. #27 Utah (very high; Q2 home games are between #26 and #55)

We have only one Q2 game left: @ #70 Cincinnati. Our game @ #82 Kansas could become Q2 if they can bring up their NET a little bit.

QUAD 3

We now have a Quad 3 loss thanks to #81 UNI tanking. Hopefully they pull their NET back up into Q2 territory.

oof to be honest with how we’ve played I find it hard currently to believe we will win 2 of those games. I’m hoping to be proven wrong, but we’ve basically not played well against anyone who is higher than us in the NET

Actually I think that is what most people are saying, it's not the "bad" losses putting them on the bubble, it's the complete lack of "good" wins. We have none, zero. They can fix that. To get 4th, 5th or 6th in the league they will have to win some "good" games. If they do that they are in, maybe not a great seed but in. If they end up only winning against teams ranked below them they will put themselves in jeopardy of playing NIT.

Nobodies that good in the Big 12. Every game is winnable here on out but a number of those are losses if we don't bring an A game. TCU might wear down, they do in some games already. KSU is without Lee and maybe overrated even with her. Baylor might be the one to sneak up on everyone.

The teams inconsistency cuts both ways. You can look at and say they are likely to lose some game they should win. Or you can think yhey will pull some big upsets. I lean a little towards upsets just because the Big 12 is pretty weak sauce and beating any of the ranked teams won't be a huge upset. There is no right or wrong fan look at this point.

I think Iowa is likely out. Iowa/ISU play-in is just clickbait and red meat for folks who spend way too much energy and thought on "rivals". Hawks blew a couple of games missing free-throws that they should have won. With their schedule they could not afford those losses. Even if Iowa can pull a rabbit out of their hat (and they did seem to play well with Stuekle out the other night) they are directly competing with two or three other Big Ten teams with about the same ranking for the last few spots.

*** Just spit balling here and procrastinating and avoiding going to gym to do some weights.
Nailed it 100%

#2 rated post in Class of 2020. Baylor to LSU to Oklahoma State to UCF to nowhere. I hope she at least got a degree along the way.
Looking back at the Class of 2020 on ESPN HoopGurlz, the posts didn't make much of an impact beyond Cardosso. Your Gophers signed a four star who ended up a Sacramento State and is now somewhere in Europe. Taylor Lauterbach (KSU > UVA) and Sharon Goodman (UNI via EIU) are still knocking around in their super-Senior years. Texas has always had a revolving door at the Post position - I vaguely remember Precious Johnson - Texas > Auburn > Duquesne > Professional in Hungary.

Posts are a wildcard. So many bomb. And than you get some completely unheralded gals like Monika Czinano and Ayoka Lee that develop and surprise. Most teams would just be crazy happy to get someone that just holds their own in the paint and defend and rebound some.

Thing is whatever is going on with Gusters seems to be more personal than on the court performance. The last two years she was better than average.

Agreed. It’s a rarity to see posts like Angie Welle, Courtney Paris, etc. Finding one that combines athleticism and size is even rarer.

Just have to keep winning. If our guard court stays active as they have been I like our chances.

Utah won tonight, eking out a win over Arizona to move another game up on us. Here's the standings heading into the weekend.

Standings after the dust settled today. Baylor keeps pace and is only a game behind TCU and KSU. KSU crushed Kansas at Lawrence this afternoon. We lost ground on WVU and Utah, and Colorado passed us.

The bubble must be extremely weak this year, because I just don’t see how we are a tournament worthy team? We are pretty likely to be 0-9 in Q1 games.
