Nobody can figure out how that game was called. What is a foul one second isn’t a foul the next play.
You ******* about the refs all game then you want to risk them potentially calling a shooting foul on the 3 point attempt?

I was actually jumping for joy, letting out a couple of yes!!! screams in my basement while Fran was talking about what a great job it was pulling off two wins on this road trip. I don't think I have ever celebrated a win, that wasn't actually a win before.
Wow yeah right there with you. Fran was 1000% certain that JJ was making both free throws.

No, the easiest play is the guards catching the ball, dribbling once or twice, getting his momentum moving towards the hoop and launching a shot, which is what happened. A person in the corner is going to have to catch the ball, dribble and turn at basically the same time and shoot the shot. We see shots being made by guards like this all the time, without a doubt its a shot and a prayer, but we see it a lot more often than a full length pass from out of bounce to a guy catching it and then shooting it moving away from the hoop.
There are a ton of basketball games happening every year so yes we do see shots like this happen, but it's not at a high clip at all. It's actually very very low. A much higher percent shot is a throw to half court to a quick pass to someone else for someone 20+ feet shorter.

The craziest thing, is Fran saw a game not even a week ago that had a more unlikely ending than this one. A 70% FT shooter missing 2 FT to put his team up 8 with 17 seconds left. Even with missing those 2 FTs, that Kansas collapse was way more unlikely than this loss.

Forget the last shot. That's a big lead to give away. Road games are road games but this team is still pretty inconsistent and definitely has the skill to pull away but doesn't very often. Definitely lots to coach on over the last of the conference season.
What big lead are you referring too? Lot of dumb here

No he was not.

Also, you are defending against a long baseball type pass with a kick out. You literally could not have asked for a better situation when Love caught the ball heading toward the wrong end line and shooting a 3/4 desperation heave. You don’t double or pressure that because it takes away your center fielder. Gilbert was floating there to disrupt having a guy flash to midcourt and a kickout.

If you’re wondering what they were trying to prevent, watch the end of the Baylor game last year when Milan almost won it at the buzzer. A little different scenario but what they were trying to avoid.

Also, if you remember, Nunn missed the FT to go up 3 with 2 seconds left and it almost bit them.
There was 2.2 seconds on the clock, they are not going to be able to throw it the length of the court, and then kick it out to get a shot. If they throw it the length of the court that guy has to shoot it, or they are going to run out of time. Now if they only need two points, its totally different, but need a three changes everything. It was a miracle shot, without a doubt, but you cannot let a guard catch the ball, dribble and square up to the hoop.

Saw a stat that said the liklihood of Houston and Arizona winning those games like that was something like 1/2 of a percent lol. Awesome.

Bryce Drew would like a word.

Unlikely? Yes. But we have literally seen it happen before.

Shoot, if Milan had 2.2 seconds last year against Baylor, that’s a W, and that was a pass from King to Milan with 1.5.

We never lead by more that 7 and our largest lead was 16-9. What large lead did we blow?

Percentage wise I think last night was their worst free throw shooting on the road and they were very good Saturday.

I chalk up turnovers as a bigger deal.
Think of it this way - in a big time road game in which we were underdogs - it took a literal ******* miracle to beat us despite:
1) worst turnover game of the year
2) Curtis Jones going 1-11 from the field, 0-8 from 3
3) second worst FT shooting game of the year

and now they get 5 days to prep for purple Kansas -> and then go beat KU in Phog Allen (back-to-back Big Monday road games is very unusual)

.5 seconds is enough to catch and shoot. 2.2 seconds is more than enough time to throw a ball to half court with another player setting a screen to a guy who gets a good look. That play is actually in most coach's back pocket.
