We lead the league in driving to the basket and getting the ball taken away
I think the guards often sense the need to do something to break the momentum of the opponent. Driving to the hoop 1-on-1 and getting a foul/getting the FT line is good way to do that. But driving 1-on-3 isn't. The ISU offense doesn't seem to set up anything up to get a guard in a 1-on-1 to go grab a foul. If the offense isn't working, they just continue to do the same thing. As I posted earlier, this is a coaching issue that needs to get fixed.

I was surprised the guys weren’t more up for it after the Arizona heartbreaker. We were there live and it just felt different. Just wish it wasn’t k state that won

In other news, WVU has been drubbed 3 straight games since beating ISU.
The WVA loss was a bad loss. I know we try to explain things away as fans but sometimes the team just shows you who they are, and right now - the team is struggling to consistently be a good offensive team. 3-3 since Milan going out. I wouldn't have anticipated that :(

I don't get all the disdain for the crowd in this thread. Did it just seem dead on the TV broadcast?

Being there myself I can say we did everything to lift them up, then seconds later we are leaving guys wide open for 3s, bricking free throws, and missing point blank layups.

The crowd tried, unfortunately the team was disinterested today.

Yep. The crowd repeatedly tried, but it'd be followed by something momentum killing that'd take the crowd out.

I'm not going to lie, the first thing I thought of when I heard about his hand is we are going to be an extremely dangerous 4 seed in the tourney when everyone is healthy again.

The Kansas win kind of gave us some false hope that we could sustain that without him. Unfortunately now we are seeing the effects over time.

Not sure what you mean. TJs entire post-game rant was that our effort wasn't there. They wanted it more. Our fans have been chirping at KState and Tang on social media for the last year. They absolutely had a little extra juice for this game, which was evident in their guys taunting our crowd.
Mostly fair it was the bs Super Bowl tag you used that people always try to tag on when they lose.

That's what we are talking about, Hilton magic was built on the fact the crowd didn't just react to good play, they kept the noise up and willed the team to play better and opponent to panic. During KSU free throws when the floor should have been shaking with over 10 to go it wasn't even loud. There were brief semi loud periods but very subpar.

Disappointing play, disappointing officiating, and disappointing crowd. Our real problem is we get nothing out of the bench, and superman isn't hitting his shots right now. Heise is regressing and is becoming more of a liability, Chatfield not much better. Hopefully Milan doesn't take too long to get back to form because his shooting really opens up the offense.

Good hunch. Next 7:

at Arizona State
Kansas
Arizona
at BYU
at Utah
Arizona State
at UCF

I could see getting a couple of those (maybe at UU & home vs ASU)
Damn. Won’t be surprising at all if they lose the next 5. They’ll be 10-16 overall at that point

Houston sucks. Tech beat Houston at Houston. We beat tech at tech. By the transitive property, we are better than Houston.

Any given day. Sad that we lost, but by flying spaghetti monster, I do love the chaos of college basketball.
Houston has at least 5 really tough games left. @Baylor, @ Tech, @Arizona, home against KU and ISU. They are probably going to lose some more.

I think that might be an idealized view of it. The fans can try to pick up the team, but there has always needed to be some level of return on that for fans to sustain. The fans tried to do that today at multiple points.

This loss is to say the least is frustrating as a fan. Try to put yourself in the shoes of anyone on the team. All-fans, players and coaches have to -as my five year old granddaughter has told me since she was three-“let it go”! Then she breaks into the song from Frozen. Honestly it works!

Totally agree. The idealized view of “olden days” Hilton is a bit annoying. Hilton has been FANTASTIC the last 10+ years. As good as ever. Several games this year have been absolutely electric. The Marquette game was friggin fantastic, as loud as it gets, particularly when the team needed a boost after Marquette tied it. The first half against Kansas about blew the roof off.

The team should have needed 0 magic today. A truly embarrassing effort today. A historically bad loss wasn’t getting fixed by the crowd.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you think we're going to win in Lawrence on Monday.

I think the fanbase needs to reset expectations. Everyone will be a lot happier.
Some truth to this probably. We got a few guys that just aren’t giving much production now that they have been scouted better. Even a few guys that really are struggling to do anything well. Milan hurt, Tamin is hurt and apparently isn’t going to get better. Rebounding a huge and more recurring issue now.

I don’t think we are near as bad as it looked today, but we aren’t very deep now, that’s a reality, and we have a lot of holes.

Think if they just correct the energy issue that has popped up a couple times we can be ok, but we might have to play slower to cover some of these deficiencies. Time will tell, I just have to see a better effort Monday night, today was really poor.

We also lost 0 games in Hilton last year lol so the magic is definitely not lost.

I see a lot of people talking about how the crowd was lackluster. When I remember being there today was that every time we had a little bit of momentum it seemed like there was one of the many poor officiating calls. there were plenty of opportunities where we should’ve made an easy bucket, but made it way harder on ourselves, so we missed out which made the deficit grow and deflated the crowd.
