Not sure if it's a common basketball refrain and I haven't played organized basketball for many years, but my coach used to preach this, always better to get a shot up even if it's a bad shot vs. turning it over. At least you have a chance to score, and if you miss it's much easier to get set on defense. Turnover over not only has no chance of scoring but also gives the opponent a better-than-average chance of scoring on the next possession.Cut down on turnovers. It's getting ridiculous.
I would rather Heise and others miss a shot than turn the ball over and never get a shot up
Shoot the F'n ball if you have a good look.
And Rebound! If you get whooped on the boards like you were getting for large chunks of the game on Saturday it will not end well.
If there are fewer turnovers and better board play and ISU still gets beat so beit.
My worry is it's a true must-win situation for KU (although also a must-win for us). But they've also lost enough already by KU standards (four Big 12 losses already, two at home only 10 games in) that maybe they've checked out a bit already? The team with the softer big men in this game will lose. I know this is somewhat recency bias, but i dont have warm fuzzies about this game
Yes, sorry, was somewhat unclear. I meant, because I don’t see the offense doing a 180, I hope to see Otz ball. Kansas’ strength is its defense, but I think they would fold late if ISU played a true 40:00 of “old” style ball. Most of their season has been a disappointment, ISU is “just” in a rut (not that it’s easy to get out of those). Now, I’m not sure the last time we saw Otz ball with Gilbert, Jones, etc., but they still have the pieces to do itOtz ball wouldn't correlate with scoring during this time. He did great with making things happen somehow with the players available but it had to rest on the defense being able to muck things up.
I would like to see more of that tonight.
Agreed, but there were A LOT of teams in the top 25 that lost last week. A win tonight will heal a lot of wounds from Saturdayshocked we stayed in the top 10
We ran into a buzzsaw Saturday.I think we run into a buzz saw tonight.
Those teams that won those 58 games had walk-ons that could start for this years KU team. Not the same comparison whatsoeverBill Self 58-0 in home Big Monday games? Hard to see it changing tonight.
KU is very much a broken team, I'd say they've had a worse week than us given how their games played out.Two teams going in the opposite direction.
If this happens the refs are going to have to let them play. I don’t see that happening in the Phog.My prediction is we are going to see a very stout ISU showing tonight. KU is going to struggle to score and we will see one of our better defensive performances. I think we will win this one 77-68
