Not sure, the kid is pretty genuine. Not naive to think money isn’t a big thing, but if it’s Iowa it’d because he’s been an Iowa fan for years and years since he was young. People forget he trained with Jody and not at David’s club when David was in PA. I’m sure he dropped in, but he grew up with all the kids that went to Iowa to wrestle for the hawks. Deep down he’s a Hawkeye fan.
Turns out I was right.

Good for Bo. Got that bag. Anyone know if we are recruiting the kid from California that beat him?

They have to bank on Bo being Spencer part 2 and attracting a lot of talent to come with him. Problem is I don’t think Bo is as good as Spencer and PSU is no longer the only competition with Ok State right there on that recruiting level too

Don’t think he picked Iowa becau$e he’$ been an Iowa fan for year$. He wa$ greatly incentivized to go there

If you don’t think we would love to be able to offer Iowa/PSU/Okie State NIL $$$ you’re kidding yourself.

As for Bo. Meh. I’d rather have him at Iowa than Okie State. The rise of that program is worse for us than Iowa still being good.

How does all this work with the $22 million budget? From what I understand, iowa has 1 big donor subsidizing this. Doesn’t this “go away” in the summer? Wouldn’t this large “bag” work against that $22 million? I guess I’m not understanding how it all works moving forward.

Wrestling does not generate a lot of money for any school. Why would anyone offer millions to a young man to come and wrestle anywhere? I get the prestige of winning championships and trophies, but are the backers just so wealthy that this is just play money? Not many schools will have those kind of backers. The future of wrestling is bleak with the current policies in place.

I don’t disagree with that. I’d love to have a donor willing to throw that kind of money around for Iowa state wrestling.

I would love Iowa State to have a Bob level donor but without the strings attached.

You and Crabs both suck at reading..... NO ONE on this board has said man I'm glad we aren't able to offer kids big money like Iowa/PSU/OkSt. It's actually been the complete opposite of that.

Can someone recap for me who are targets are that are still undecided? I understand Bassett and Ross and a few other blue chippers are off the board but who are we targeting still that we still have a shot at?

Where is Shane Hanford of West Marshall going? #1 ranked at 150 in 2A and a senior. He beat Ashton Moreno of Algona handily last night. Ashton is ranked and recently beat former #1 Mikey Ryan of Mount Vernon.
