It’s getting 1-2 more scorers that is the biggest difference between this year and last year.Kind of amazing this roster was 2 bad calls away from beating Stanford on their home court. View attachment 142473

I think this year it’s the way they come and go. Some games we hardly put up any and others it’s a deluge. It’s like watching the stock market zip up and down.I was curious so I looked into our 3 pt stats
Year 3 Pt Attempts per game 3 Pt Percentage (Attempts * %) 2023-24 21.33 37.5 7.99 2024-25 22.95 35.2 8.08
Like I was really expecting to see less 3 points attempts.
It is so strange, every time I look up stats to compare this year's team to last, they don't pan out to a clear answer to why it feels and looks worse.
I agree completely and the thing that is most puzzling is there does not seem to be a common reason for this games where we just seem to forget how to shoot.I think this year it’s the way they come and go. This was a lot of fun, but I think I determined our team is actually younger than last year based on minutes played. I may have butchered statistics; I am but a lowly engineer.
TL; DR

Of course if we're getting into this much precision, we maybe should be calculating each player's age to the day, then weighing their precise age on the date of each game by the number of minutes played in that game.Cross posted as this may be the better place to discuss.
Haha Fair enough. I was just trying to gauge if I should have expected a more mature team. By my calcs I would say no.Of course if we're getting into this much precision, we maybe should be calculating each player's age to the day, then weighing their precise age on the date of each game by the number of minutes played in that game.
Then we'd need to account for the fact that this season isn't complete yet, so my proposed method would bias the 24-25 age younger than the 23-24 age just because we haven't completed the season -- the individual player ages in future games are higher than the player ages of games already played.
But that's my engineering/actuarial background talking.
My take away from this data . . . . Emily Ryan is the only one old enough to drink (legally).Cross posted as this may be the better place to discuss.
Darned engineers…never thought I’d see a thread get so numbers oriented…but ISU is an engineering school and it’s kind of awesome!Haha Fair enough. I was just trying to gauge if I should have expected a more mature team. By my calcs I would say no.
Of course I could have calculated the average by pts scored, and the data would probably show we are older as Audi and Addy pretty much score everything
That is really interesting. Thanks for taking the time to do that.Cross posted as this may be the better place to discuss.
I feel like Hansford is getting better and Heise is getting worse. On a different note…who would have thought that the men and women’s teams would both be struggling to score at the same time? The women brought in Hansford expecting big things and the men brought in Heise With the same expectations. Both are struggling to find the net.
Hansford has at least had one good game mixed in with all the misses.I feel like Hansford is getting better and Heise is getting worse.

She had a rough year last year at Iowa State, but I think she could have helped this team. We miss her length and versatility.Excited to see Diew again on Saturday. Looks like she is having a pretty solid season!

Did she grad student out? I really don't remember?I feel like Diew leaving was a bigger deal than we maybe thought. Positional versatility and a good defender, She's not exactly lighting the world on fire at CU but she's shooting 36% from 3. She would have been a nice piece on this year's team.
I think she went to Colorado as a grad transfer. So my understanding is she left for school reasons more than basketball reasons. So, I welcome her back!Did she grad student out? I really don't remember?
