He was releases in November. Bad teams aren't looking for a QB in November unless they literally have nobody to play the position and good teams are usually in good shape at the position and would be like the Vikings, just signing a guy for depth at the veteran minimum to be on the practice squad. Him ending up with the Vikings likely had more to do with him wanting to work with O'Connell for a few months than about money. He made $36m last year, unless there is literally no market for him, he's not taking less than $10m-$15m and will likely get more with his level of experience and some reasonable stats as an NFL starter.
If his goal was to get right back on the field ASAP, then choosing to spend a few aimless months with MIN was not going to do that for him. That's the part I don't get on that end...

...unless he was told there was a reasonable chance he's on the field for MIN next season. Then it makes more sense. Otherwise, if he's going to sign a cheap deal probably with a ****** team anyway, he could've headstarted that already instead of sitting around in MIN.

Attached to a winning team is probably better than nothing from his stand point. I maintain that he is just there for the comp draft pick and unless something weird happens, he is not a part of their plans.

Watching Jayden Daniels ball out in the playoffs is really pushing me further to having the Vikings roll with JJ next year. I don't expect him to be as good as Jayden has been, but the thought that he could be is exciting. His mobility is better than what Darnold had and he has some of the same moxy that Jayden has. Build the line and restock the defense and lets roll

I agree I’m also on team JJ. If he sucks send him down the road. I just hope he knows where to go when the blitz is coming and doesn’t hold the ball too long.

What's weird is that Darnold was really good against the blitz until those last two games.
Seemed like the lights were just too bright for him. He was missing wide open guys in the Lions game and missing throws in both which was really uncharacteristic all season, the only difference between regular season and last two games was the pressure of the situation really.

To be fair, the Vikings would have killed the Lions if they would have executed. The Rams not so much. But there were plenty of opportunities against the lions

I think Nailor is on a pretty reasonable contract, so if possible, I think it would be beneficial to hold on to him, but damn...that would be a strong quad of receivers.
