I wonder if Devries has already stepped out the door mentally. WVU has offered him an extension with a sizable raise, but he hasn't signed it. The loss to Colorado smacks of disinterest, especially turning the ball over on 7 straight possessions.

At 1 point this season I dreaded him leaving, but after some horrific losses, I'm quite certain he can be replaced.

I still don't know how good of a coach he is. He did get good players at Drake, but his best was his kid who was a 4 star so of course he was going to do well at that level.

I think WVU has a solid AD and department. I don't think he even gets hired there if there's a chance he leaves after a year. Iowa fans think a lot of coaches view Iowa City as their dream job, but it isn't really the case.

Holy crap - that was some insane "never give up" defense by the MSU player on the fast break when everyone else was frozen because they thought it went out of bounds.

EDIT - it was actually goaltending, though - the layup had already hit the backboard

He looked like Tayshaun Prince chasing down Reggie Miller

Absolutely. Of course we'd have to win our way there, but Duke with a compromised Flagg doesn't scare me in the least, and I think Tennessee would be one hell of a game - one that (assuming we get healthy enough) we can win.

FWIW this guy is normally very good at projections.

Just listening to Heinrichs on a recent podcast and reading between the lines, he is down on Hawkeye fans (he always is) and the Hawkeye NIL is not in a position to compete in the Big 10 in most of their sports. Why would a coach want to go into that unless they got a ton of salary and a huge buyout?

Honestly, someone like Chris Mack would be a great replacement.
