probably. and the NCAA doesn't have much power left, but rampant use of narcotics is probably one of the things they do have the power to investigate/punish.

he had a high level P5 player in a mid major conference the entire time so...
I’m not saying he’s going to succeed at Indiana. I don’t think he will. He did do a great job at Drake though. Not arguing that his offspring didn’t help him.

Maybe he can collect some coin at IU for four years to set him up financially then head to a Big East team similar to what G Mac did.

it wasn't just his son. he had several other players that were playing down a league IMO. he by far had more talent than any other coach in that league. he should have won it every year. i don't see him getting that kind of talent discrepancy in the big 10.

Now you are getting carried away. Agree though, he’s not going to win at Indiana at near the level they expect.

Doing the job he did at Drake was impressive, yes.
Yeah, winning 20 games in all six seasons (and 24+ in 5 of 6) and winning the conference tournament 3 times at Drake is really impressive. They have had a good season here or there, but no sustained success outside DeVries in the last 50 years.

People talked a lot about not getting an upset in three chances in the NCAA first round, but that's a really small (and not very fair) sample size to judge a coach on.

If WV want to float a conspiracy theory, its far more likely that Iowa and DeVrie's agent had conversations during the year and he knew that job was likely to open at the end of the year and maybe they shut Tucker down when he could have come back late in the year. All signs point to IU getting swooping in at the end and convincing DeVries to go there instead of Iowa.

This is all so hilarious. Now some Iowa posters are trying to claim Beth Goetz sniffed out this whole Tucker and Darian are dirty and Iowa was the one that rejected DD, not the other way around.

And makes it more fun that Iowa will have to play DD and Tucker in the B1G.

That might be a stretch, but nobody really knows who BG's top target is here. The running narrative has been that it's been DD all along, but nobody really knows except BG.

Man, if she would have hired someone else without asking DeVries first, I think her fans and maybe boosters would have rioted. She was cornered in hiring DeVries, whether she liked it or not.

Now, thanks to Indiana, she can run an open search and hire the best person she sees fit. I think this is actually better for her. DeVries is a good coach but he’s not the only one out there, as evidenced by what Drake is doing this year without him.
