Plus the longer Drake is in the tournament the longer Iowa founders in it's coaching search lol. Just a little side benefit.

Either way I'm happy, go Des Moines Tech.
Hassel and fatass AD were so smugly confident on that IE podcast that Iowa was going to get Devries and if not him then certainly McCollum, that I really want them to miss out on both.

It’s only day 3 and I’m really sick of the repetitive commercials. If I see another GEICO ad I’m going to start drinking. The Bateman Statefarm ad was good the first time. After seeing it 15 times, it’s a bit old.
What exactly is Mountain Dews ad strategy? Just to be weird AF? And don't get me started on how annoying Maura is on Progressive ads.

The announcers are really enjoying counting up Toppin's stats.

Yeah I like how they just assume they'll want to go to Iowa City, why wouldn't they!? Lol

Hope another team scoops him up or he stays at Drake, not that I'm even that confident that he hasn't just caught lightning in a bottle. I just like to watch hoks squirm.

Drake runs a real offense and has a pretty sound defense. Tech just has athletes. Interesting battle.
Missouri just ran out athletes. Tech has some actual coaching. It’s a great battle. McCollum is outgunned with size and athleticism but is figuring out a way to keep it close. Tech isn’t handing them anything either. Just really good basketball both ways.

That’s really dumb. It is critical for Iowa State that the Big 12 does well and wins games - big/important games - in football and basketball. Not even a loose correlation with douchy SEC “pride” in any way; it’s completely about survival as a “Power conference” school.
People tend to forget or don't remember that the SEC was once nationally significant Alabama (Bryant Era) and a bunch of regional teams in Football and nationally significant Kentucky (Rupp Era) and a bunch of regional teams in MBB. When any team besides Alabama won the SEC in Football or anybody besides Kentucky won the SEC in MBB, the winner was someone looked down upon because Alabama and / or Kentucky were "Down".

It took a long, long time and a bunch of good players and athletes to change that perception in both sports. So, while it is totally anoying now, it was important at one time for SEC programs to root for the others to have success at the national level. The proof is in the pudding with both Football and MBB having multiple shools besides Alabama in Football and Kentucky in MBB winning National Championships in the post-Bryant and post-Rupp Eras.

Point is, I root for Big XII teams besides Iowa State to succeed at the National level which will ultimately lift all programs and more importantly the conference to become more NATIONALLY relevant. Doesn't ever mean I want those programs to beat Iowa State, and I obviously love a crushing Kansas MBB loss every now and then. :)

I am rooting for Drake, because I like Drake. However, it doesn't help ISU any. Moreover, Texas Tech winning is better finacially for Iowa State and the Big XII.
Drake wins 2 games in the NCAA tourneyment every 50-60 years. They aren't taking players away from us. Tech is playing really well and are really tough. Drake being within 5-7 points at half time is a win.

I'm liking Tech's chances but they gotta keep bringing it 2nd half or they'll be sleeping in their own beds tonight.

I agree. Drake is NOT a threat to Iowa State in the big picture. However, if they win today, it will cost ISU and the Big XII a few $$$$ in Tournament payout.

I root for every Big 12 team except Kansas, but I also like Drake.
