Ole Miss does have good wins against Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and BYU (though this was before BYU was clicking like they are now). Won't be easy but nothing is in this tournament. Hoping for another Sweet 16 trip.

I think this is going to be a rout. They'll make some 3s in the first half and keep it close, where it hangs around a 5-8 point lead for us - but then we go on a big run early in the second half, really exposing their defensive switches, and get some turnover runouts - then they fold and go away and we end up winning by more than we beat Lipscomb.
I would love to have this kind of optimism

Man, not seeing much Cardinal and Gold in the lower bowl of this first game. Hopefully we bought the upper deck out. Lots of Illinois and Kentucky fans.

Who knows, maybe we’ll be able to turn Ole Miss over more than most believe. After all, we’re pretty good at doing that.

When we get the mismatches, we gotta hit the shots. That’s the key. Other than that I think we’ll kill them on the boards and hit free throws.
yes, we are good at that with both Lipsey and Gilbert on the floor. Lipsey will be restricted some. We can't rely on turnovers to win this. Beard will exploit us if that is what we try and pull on a his guard heavy team. Just need to play good half court defense, rebound, limit our own turnovers and let the 3 head monster of Jones, Milan, and Jefferson go off.

In no particular order, of course!

Agreed

Although we will take the turnovers and opportunistic transitions.

Unfortunately may not be a very friendly crowd to us. Doubt too many Kentucky or Illinois fans will be rooting for us, although I don't think it will be much of an advantage for either team. People just don't root as hard when neither of their teams are involved.

So the one real advantage they would have is turnovers. Have to limit our turnovers on offense. Just get a shot up, even if it's a bad one, and it would seem we have a good shot at an offensive rebound.
bad shots are turnovers ;)

I'm not really that nervous about this game, but I also can't say I have a great feeling. Beard is a good coach and Pedulla is a hell of a shooter. Both he and the other short guard are the types that have given us fits in the past.

That's where I am. I think we're winning, but you just never know.
