Tech off to a roughish start.

Of course Calipari has a bunch of fail at KY in recent years but has an Arky team playing well.

NBA basketball is super boring as it is 3 pointers and pick & roll. College basketball is heading there fast, if not now (Alabama, BYU, etc.). They are teaching this type of ball to kids growing up, no long 2's but shoot layups and 3 pointers.

I totally agree with the NBA take but BYU/Bama is a product of BYU only being able to stay in games by making 3’s and also playing zero defense. If you’re going to just let elite shooters take wide open threes why not hoist away.

BYU/Bama and Tech/Arkansas have been track meets.

Run out after run out with lots of quick 3s.

It’ll take a few years of this for the ratings to be hit. But if those first round games become boring, you’re going to see a huge hit in ratings over time as less people take time away from working to watch. It’s not like people were going to immediately turn off the games this year because there were so few upsets. But it’ll slowly deteriorate until the tournament only matters to true CBB fans.
I’m one of those, it’s almost nostalgic to have upsets.

I’m sure it’s been said, but if the future of basketball is just 3 point shooting, the sport will die quickly

Can’t stand watching the NBA because of this. And Alabama took 66 shot attempts with 51 of those 3 point attempts

That’s not how basketball was intended to be played
What? I don't want to see college b-ball to become more like the NBA either, but that's a strange statement to make.

Scoring more points than your opponent and winning the game is the intent.

We either evolve with the times or get left behind, whether we like it or not.

I was not expecting the free throw discrepancy in this Duke/zona game, or if there was I wasn’t expecting it to go zonas way

I love the three point fests!

Loyola Marymount in the early 90s was fun-fun-fun.

Kentucky under Pitino was fun-fun-fun.

Alabama or any other team that goes crazy from three point range is fun-fun-fun.

Sure as hell beats a 50-46 game.

True. But if the name of the game is simply who can make the most three pointers, then is it really a basketball game or a three point contest?
